    Who redshirts this year?

With the comments made by Mac during the Big 12 media days and throughout the offseason I highly doubt Wes or Buckley will redshirt and JVB won't since he is a transfer...so of the remaining new guys that Mac brought in who redshirts?

My guess is Mann and Hamilton will and I wouldn't mind seeing L.A. redshirt but we only if we can rebound without him!

How many games can they play in and still be able to redshirt?

I think based on stuff McD has said Big Ham will be on the floor. Word from the guys who know a lot more than I do it sounds like Pomlee and Mann stand a better chance of being redshirted than anybody.

in basketball, I don't think you can play in any games and still get a non-medical redshirt.

If anyone is redshirted, it's almost certain to be Clinton Mann. The other candidates (Hamilton, Pomlee) have more ability to contribute this year: Hamilton can play true center, and Pomlee has a bigger body and is a better rebounder.

With Staiger's recent knee issues, i really doubt any guards will redshirt. Improving our 3-point shooting and FG percentage has to be the #1 priority of this season.

(also, a non-medical redshirt cannot play any games)

    Re: Who redshirts this year?

I think Wes needs to. We have a lot of Guards already.

When will Wes play between having Haluska, Lucca (if healthy), Buckley, Boozer, DG, Petey and Lee all available.

We know that DG, Petey, Haluska, Lucca will get playing time. I think Lee will too for his defense and energy. I expect Boozer to improve and play some as well but I guess we'll see.

Just hard to picture where Wes fits in exactly. I haven't been reading what Mac has been saying though either. I am planning on catching up on all of that this weekend. : )

If you're improving FG %, then I'd argue you play less guards. Guards shoot lower percentage shots.

Frankly, I hope to be over-recruiting all these players in the next few years so I hope we pull the shirts off every one of them. Especially if they can help the team at all.

    Re: Who redshirts this year?

Well, I know that Scott Christopherson will redshirt, if that answers any questions.

I'd guess Mann and maybe Pomlee, though L.A.'s could be pulled if anyone goes down.

Maybe. The counter to that is better outside shooting should lead to more open looks (and hence more makeable shots) inside. Offensive rebounds sure help FG percentage also.

Just what I was thinking...Unless Wes beats out Lucca and Haluska for playing time I don't know how much he will need to be on the floor...The coaching staff is high on him also so they might not redshirt him but he could pry get a lot of minutes when we are blowing people our or getting blown out ...and it would be nice if we keep getting good classes to fill our needs so we wouldn't have to redshirt more than one or two guys and we would be able to have fairly deep bench...

I thought there was something like a 3 game rule in the past, but I'm pretty sure the rules were changed and that football and basketball are the same for non-medical redshirts.

How many people redshirt in D1 basketball and end up being actual impact players?

No, you can't. I'm not even sure they can play in the exhibition games.
