    Boulder Experience?

I'm thinking about attending the Colorado game this year with a co-worker Buffalo. Anyone want to share the tailgating/ambiance of Folsom Field?

I haven't tailgated in Boulder, but I love the city and the bars were fun when I was up there.

    Re: Boulder Experience?

I went to the game in 2002. It seemed to me that the tailgating was a lot like Iowa City, if you had a spot pre-reserved, you could get close to the stadium, otherwise, you were really spread out. We ended up tailgating on the top level of a parking garage with a bunch of other Cyclone fans who were in the same boat. It might have changed since then.

    Re: Boulder Experience?

There is usually an alumni tailgating event at the Millinium Hotel in Boulder on 28th St. That is where I would recommend going. It is a good time and walking distance to the standing. Parking is costly at the hotel but I've always just paid it. They have a decent bar, food, TVs, and outdoor beer stands, porta potties, etc. I even talked to Pollard there last time I went.

The stadium itself sucks. CU fans are terrible. They are rude and smug. I would recommend sitting in the ISU sections to avoid the constant heckling or snow ball throwing (if there is snow).

Or check out the Alumni Associations site too. You don't have to been a member to go.

I did the alumni party both times I went out there it was fun lots of ISU people. Didn't care for the bars spread all over never found a really good one. CU did suck.

I think it's one of the most beautiful stadiums in the nation, personally.

The fans screw that up, but I don't think you'll find another place in the nation more picturesque.

    Re: Boulder Experience?

Tailgating is pretty sparse and spread out.

A few of the fans were idiots. last time they played there we went and one of the fans turns to us and says. "Iowa huh. Too bad you don't have this." (doing a Vanna White unveiling of the mountains) My buddy responds back "What? Mountains? What do you want us to do, build some?"

I will be attending the game in Boulder this time as well.

    Re: Boulder Experience?

I had a great time in Boulder/Denver when out there for the game in 2006. As far as tailgate and game day atmosphere, it has to be one of the worst.

    Re: Boulder Experience?

Be prepared to get over run by the hippies outside the stadium when you are making your way in. I saw a few Jesus saves signs getting waved around and lots of political and enviromental brochures and signs flying about (not that that is a bad thing). That was pretty much the exact opposite of what I wanted to deal with after drinking a bakers dozen worth of Budwiesers and trying to get jacked up to watch a cyclone football game.

I do too. When I said the stadium sucked, I meant the atmosphere in the stadium. The structure is great. The Flat Irons in the distance. All the same color brick all over campus. It really is a cool campus.

I like CSU's campus as well.

This will be the first year in quite a while that I won't be going to that game. It is pretty fun. The colorado fans are pretty full of themselves but overall a great place to go to a game.

Went two years ago and had a blast. Forget the tailgate...go to the Harvest House Millinimum Hotel, 3 blocks from stadium. Great Iowa State party in the courtyard with big screen TV etc. It's fun. I recommend it.
