I would go only if this concert was 12 years ago.

    Re: Metallica-Sunday-anyone going?

I'm going to the show in Moline next month. The tour started on Tuesday. While they brought some really good surprises with playing "The Four Horsemen" and "Fight Fire With Fire," they only played 5 songs from the '80s. Too much black album on the set list, in my opinion. Also surprising that they appear not to be opening with "Blackened" as they generally have for years. Perhaps they are still planning on doing it for the majority of their shows. Here is the list:

    1. That Was Just Your Life
    2. End of the line
    3. Sad But True
    4. Wherever I May Roam
    5. One
    6. Broken, Beat, & Scarred
    7. Cyanide
    8. Frantic
    9. Until it Sleeps
    10. Four Horsemen
    11. The Day that Never Comes
    12. Master of Puppets
    13. Fight Fire With Fire
    14. Nothing Else Matters
    15. Enter Sandman
    ------------------------
    16. Last Caress
    17. So What
    18. Seek and Destroy

    Re: Metallica-Sunday-anyone going?

I can't respect Metallica anymore after watching that "Some kind of monster" movie and their whole battle with Napster etc.

Now I lived for Ride The Lightening and Master of Puppets, but they lost me at the Black album.

I actually began to pay attention to them after watching Some Kind of Monster

Those of you who have listened to Death Magnetic, what do you think? How does it rank among their other albums?

Have you seen them live before? When I saw them in '04, I think it was, we got lucky and they played "The Thing That Should Not Be." That isn't performed live very often.

Last time I saw them was in 1987 and it was the best show I have ever seen in my entire life. I was truly in awe as a long haired kid that essentially worshipped them. It was also my first concert ever, so that made it cool as well. I was about 10 feet from Kirk the whole nigh. Amazing.

Best album since ...And Justice For All, except Garage Inc. And I may or may not get back stage passes. Won't know 'till Sunday.

No offense but I think anyone has a chance at getting good seats. I'll be surprised if it's even half full.

Huge fan, always will be, but only for the support of the older stuff. Got a listen of the new album and have no ambition to buy it. As much as they don't want to admit it, its St. Anger revisited. I can tolerate St. Anger, but not twice.

The movie for me was ok. It was nice to get a reality glimpse into a band that I've been a huge fan of for awhile. But some of it was a bit over the top.

When Jason Newsted left I was not a fan of him for doing so. Now I can say I completely understand. Lars and Heft can have some of the biggest egos when it comes to that band. Maybe rightfully so. But after Cliff Burton died, this band has never and never will the same. Music, a band, and as artists. He was such a vital part to who Metallica was long ago.
