    Question about JVB

Why is it that Jamie Vanderbeken is 6-11 and 245 and Coach Mac is fine with him having the role of a 3 point shooter but when Jiri wanted to do the same, Coach Mac told him to play down low or find a new team? Was it just lack of bodies so Jiri had to be a center?

I'm only asking because I don't understand the difference.

    Re: Question about JVB

    Either.

    JVB can actually shoot.

We need to take teams away from CB.

Or JVB has no potential for inside play.

Jiri had too because there was no other option...Vanderbeken is soft. On top of that Vanderbeken is a much better 3 point shooter than Jiri was. Again, expect him to get 10-15 minutes, where Jiri was playing 30 plus...Totally different team, you're starting to see what having options will do, instead of being forced into something.

    Re: Question about JVB

    Thats a good question.

Considering all the pro scouts were raving about Jiri's outside game I am guessing he can "actually shoot" pretty well. Not to mention Mac saying on the call in show multiple times that Jiri was their best outside shooter.

    Re: Question about JVB

Nebraska played a 6'11" 3 point shooter for a few years, right? Sounds like a similar role.

The main reason is Jiri was the only option we had in the post. With Brackins there, we actually want someone who will draw the other big out of the block, because no one will stop Brackins one on one.

You are right.. he actually did get better.

Going from 24% to 28% to 34%. How much of that was him being a better shooter vs a better chooser on shot selection? I dont know

    Re: Question about JVB

Jiri was a really good 3 point shooter in practice from what I've heard, just couldn't get hot in the games.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

As long as it means we won't have to watch Brackins shoot those crooked, cocked-shoulder 3-pointers, I'm giddy as a schoolgirl.

    Re: Question about JVB

Jiri wasn't a bad 3 point shooter, but Vanderbeken is better.

Yes, I hope this is something that has changed for this season. I know Craig got hot during the Baylor game but that was it. It seemed like after that, Coach gave Craig the green light beyond the arc. But that isn't where we need him.

I hope he plays down low with attitude.

    Re: Question about JVB

I think it's a combination of McDermott believing JVB is a better shooter and having more bodies down low. Jiri was our ONLY inside presence.

He was stopped one on one a lot last year...A year can make a big difference but I don't see him being duoble teamed everytime he has the ball...
