I don't think things look good with James Carpenter

The schools he is visiting does not bode well for us in my opinion.

Well, he's got to do what he thinks is right, but I don't see how he can go wrong with ISU. Our offensive line seems to have an opening for him if he wants playing time right away, which is what any JUCO is looking for. ISU has a couple good young QBs and a stud RB transfer from Florida - two more things that a JUCO offensive lineman should be looking for. Any potential recruit should be focused on what's ahead and not look too far back. Things can change in a hurry as has already been proven at ISU (2-10 in 2003; 7-5 in 2004 with three OT losses).

Personally I think hes a little flattered by all the recent attention and hopefully once he looks around and realizes that ISU is his best chance to play, he'll pick the good guys.

Re: I don't think things look good with James Carpenter

    I disagree.....

The list is quite imposing, however, none of them will have the type of immediate playing time that he could have at ISU. Plus, he obviously should have a sense that ISU was the only one that was recruiting him before he blew up, a sense of loyalty....

The one silver lining from last weekends game is a recruit seeing that game could definitely see himself playing right away. It appears that Chizik is a good salesman in that he don't BS anyone, and i think kids really appreciate that aspect. If you read what Jacques Washington said in his writeup, it pretty much said that he can tell by the way Chizik talks that he will turn it around, its only a matter of time and getting the right kids to play his game.

Right....I would have rather he said:

"ISU is really a dump. I can't ever see myself playing there. You know, I didn't think much of it before I got there, and it was worse!"

Seriously people--is this what you worry about day-to-day? That was as positive as an article gets without it being a verbal commit.

    They're worried about this?

"I loved it and really it was better than I even thought it would be," said Carpenter. "They're definitely one of my favorites. Really
Just to point out--Alabama, for example, already has a FIVE star offensive tackle committed, and is still recruiting two others. Plus another two four-stars besides James. Then they also have a three star committed. If you want to worry about "name" schools, you may as well look closely at the facts as well.

WE offer what a JUCO needs...immediate PT and we have a LT that will graduate next year. Alabama does not nor have they offered

Oh yeah--I just looked, and 'Bama already has three freshmen (four and five stars) from last year's class in the offensive tackle rotation. So what they're telling James, I don't know.

Re: I don't think things look good with James Carpenter

Looking at it from a competition perspective this is what Carpenter is going up against at the four schools he has visits for and these are offensive tackle commits over the last 3 classes and so far in this coming class:

    Alabama: 3 - 5*, 2 - 4*, 1 - 3*

    Ole Miss: 3 - 3*, 1 - 2*

    Texas Tech: 2 - 4*, 6 - 3*, 5 - 2*

    Iowa State: 3 - 3*, 4 - 2*

that would make me think that either us or ole miss would be his top if he really wants to play right away, but those are just stars.
