ESPN.com adds men's basketball recruiting coverage

    By ESPN.com

ESPN.com is expanding its coverage of college recruiting to include men's basketball, and Scouts Inc. has assembled an experienced and widely respected team of talent evaluators to handle the task.

National recruiting directors John Carroll, Bob Gibbons and Paul Biancardi will provide the bulk of the coverage, including all player evaluations, grades and class recruiting rankings. Besides following prospects in their high school games, our directors will attend the important camps and AAU tournaments to see the top prospects in the nation in person.

Carroll brings extensive experience to our recruiting coverage, having spent 13 years as a college coach, six as head coach at Duquesne and seven as an assistant to P.J. Carlesimo at Seton Hall. He then had a nine-year NBA coaching career, including seven as an assistant with the Boston Celtics that concluded with a four-month stint as interim head coach in 2003-04.

Gibbons is the editor and publisher of the All Star Sports report and is widely regarded as the recruiting guru of college basketball. He has more than three decades of experience scouting high school basketball prospects, is a member of the McDonald's High School All-American Selection Committee and was rated the No. 1 high school talent scout in America by Sports Illustrated.

Paul Biancardi has 17 years coaching experience at the Division I level. He was an assistant at Boston University, Boston College and Ohio State before becoming the head coach at Wright State, where he earned Horizon League coach of the year honors in the 2003-'04 season.

All players in the Classes of 2007, '08, '09 and '10 have been seen, either on tape or in person, and graded. Evaluations for '07 prospects are filtering in, and many of the top prospects' evaluations are available online, as is the initial ESPN 150 ranking of top prospects in the Class of '07.

Post-graduate and junior college prospects will be evaluated under the same criteria as high school prospects but will be ranked separately.
Grades for underclassmen are projected grades. Much can change from a player's freshman season to his senior season, when he signs a Division I scholarship offer. Some players' development will accelerate, while others will fail to meet expectations. These grades are a projection of where Scouts Inc. believes these players will be by their senior seasons. Evaluations of these players will not be completed until after their junior seasons, and they will be updated throughout the spring and summer leading up to their senior seasons.

    Re: BIG GAME tomorrow

Is the old players' revenge to beat the old coach STRONGER than the knowledge that the old coach has about those same guys? If we can just not get killed in the paint, I think we will win. Jiri ought to be a big help. I am anxious to watch him play again. Clones by 3 in a come-back victory.

Looks like Mr. Bracketology thinks MVC will be as good as Big 12 this year.

I would like to see 10 rebounds from Jiri as an opener.

    Re: BIG GAME tomorrow

I'm looking forward to this. The highlight of my week. Our toughest game yet this season. Last year was a disaster, ouch. The panthers' shooting was unconscious. (I'm secretly hoping that McKowen sucks it up -- like he usually does)

Cyclones usually have a good following at the Dome. This year I've been told that the entire floor seating (bleacher seating) is being used for students. I don't expect the environment to be friendly.

Just tell Brock J not to waste any shots. Can anyone keep up with Michael on UNI roster?

    Re: BIG GAME tomorrow

ISU's advantage is at the guard positions, where UNI's advantage is inside with Coleman and Stout (And it's a big advantage at that).

    Re: BIG GAME tomorrow

According the the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier only 6500 tickets had been sold as of Monday. So if you don't have your tickets yet Cyclone fans, there will still be plenty of good seats available.

    Re: BIG GAME tomorrow

I have never been to the UNI-Dome before, especially a basketball game. I am pumped to be headed there tommorow with Cyclone Alley though!! I saw some pictures of how they set it up for basketball games with curtains behind each end of the court. It's wierd. It'll be fun though!

    Re: BIG GAME tomorrow

Actually it's a terrible set up. The view sucks unless you can sneak into the seats around the court. Even with all the negatives it's still only a 1.5 hour road trip and well worth it to support the team. I'd be going if I still lived in Iowa...no reason not to if you're in Ames.

    Re: BIG GAME tomorrow

Yeah i am going to the game tomorrow as well (not a student so no cyclone alley unfortunately). It is a very weird place to watch bball games. I am not a big fan of it. dont get y UNI built a new arena that isnt big enough for their big games.

By the way from the post above, I would love to see Jiri get 10 boards in a game too. But lets start with 5 for him. He isn't much of a rebounder and I don't remember him sniffing 10 last year

Wish I could go because I do NOT want to listen to Mac the idiot do the color on the TV broadcast. Probably will mute the TV and listen to Walters and Heft on the radio. BIG GAME, will tell us a lot about our team.

    Re: BIG GAME tomorrow

I'm looking forward to this game so much, I thought it was tonight for some reason, no joke, i'm ********.

“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”

"I hope to coach here until I retire," Hoiberg said.
