    Broomfield high on cyclones

looks like we are the favorite for deon broomfield at this point, he looks like a pretty solid athlete and we are definitely weak at the safety position. he really enjoyed his visit although we got crushed. perhaps its the chance for early playing time that got his attention.

scout says his forty time is just 4.66, but rivals has it at 4.53... i trust rivals a lot more for what its worth.

If Rivals had the slower 40 time, would you still make that comment?

    Re: Broomfield high on cyclones

Does anyone ever post on here about recruits that are just OK at best. Are there ever any posts that say "Old whats his lips is leaning toward ISU. He's pretty marginal" Every one of these I read has some comment about what a good athlete he is or what a good get he is. Let's be honest here, some of these kids are really nothing to get excited about.

But we don't need to be saying that type of stuff on message boards because:

    1. None of us have any idea how talented or untalented any of these recruits are. All we know is from what we read and what we see in a short highlight film.

    2. Many times we've recruited kids early, only to have bigger programs offer late.

    3. It's better to be positive, especially when your comments are out there for everyone including recruits and their families to see. We don't need to be bashing recruits who want to be Cyclones just because Rivals only gives them two stars or somebody thinks their 40 time is too slow.

yes because scout is definitely an inferior service to look for for info. now i dont believe things on rivals when is say a guy ran a 4.4 because it means he probably ran a 4.49 or something

We should be concentrating on getting the best Linemen on both sides to ISU as we can get. Specialty players don't mean anything otherwise. I bet our secondary would be awesome if we had a pass rush. I bet the Bo Williams and ARob Combo next year would be one of the best in the Big12 if we had consistant holes. As of right now Adrian Peterson would probably have an average day for the Clones. A good 0-Line with experienced QB, RB's and Receivers means good bowl game.

    If I ran a 4.49 I would say I ran a 4.4. Thats pretty common.

When I say common I mean rounding down not running 4.49

One thing about the "versus" of rivals versus scout that you should consider--if a kid has a combine time, Scout will put it in his profile, while Rivals considers that priveleged, pay-for info, and will post the "claimed" time (along with his "combine" height and weight). Generally, I trust Rivals' evaluations more, but not speed when a player has attended a combine.

Yeah, Broomfield doesn't have a bunch of major offers. Neither does Washington (another visitor who may commit). But I think that the staff has earned the benefit of the doubt when it comes to talent evaluation. Look at the impact that the 2008 class has had. Sure, they are mostly skill players making the impact, but we all know that OL/DL take longer to develop.

Bottom line is if this recruiting class improves over last year's, and they keep improving every year, we are going to be pretty happy down the line.

I agree we need safties. I just think some of these kids are just average.

The real problem I see is that at 6-0 169, he doesn't exactly look ready for the Big XII as a true frosh.

    There. Fixed that for ya.

Just curious, who are you suggesting runs the Wild Hog? JJ? It takes the right back to do it, too.
