Lou Holtz: "Hitler was a great leader."

Lou Holtz: Lou Holtz Might Be Taking Some Time Off

The context of the conversation was about Rich Rodriguez's not-so-great start as the University of Michigan's head coach and Holtz chose this phrase as part of his analysis.: "Ya know, Hitler was a great leader too."
Holtz is officially senile now. It's time for ESPN to show him retirement.

Apparently people nowadays don't think incisively enough to distinguish the difference between being a great leader, and a great man? You can certainly be one without the other, and Hitler, by all accounts, was exceptionally charismatic. And quite the antithesis of a "great man".

So Rich Rodriquez may not be the answer to Big Ten football.

Why not? He's got crap for players currently, and tons of great recruits committed.

If you want historical analogy, it took Hitler time to lead Germany out of the post-WWI economic funk and back into prominence. His methods might have been despicable, but he didn't do it overnight, either.

Re: Lou Holtz: "Hitler was a great leader."

I think it's a very interesting quote. Hitler was indeed a great leader.

A pretty horrible guy, but a great leader. He was Time man of the year for 1938 as well.

Who here loves the Dr. Lou segment on ESPN!? So cheesy it is funny! I love listening to Lou's insights, and not just because of his lischp.
