    A team with no leaders

It seems pretty apparent this football team lacks any vocal, stand-up leaders. Until he left, Bates was probably the closest to that, and with him gone, we look lost out there. Last season we had Blythe and Bowen carrying things, but not this season. Next year things will change with Bo Williams on offense and Lenard Johnson with a year under his belt on defense, but it's frustrating right now. I was hoping AA would step up and fill that role, but it is certainly apparent, he's not ready for that as yet.

Coach can't make the leaders - they've gotta step up for themselves.

Re: A team with no leaders

I actually think that AA was a better leader then Bates until Bates left. Since Bates left AA has not been there. Maybe it was the competition. Maybe AA is upset with Chizik because of Bates leaving, but AA has been sleep walking since Bates left. I hope you are right about LJ and Bo.

I don't think AA is slacking since Bates left. I'm guessing he feels more pressure and feels like has more weight on his shoulders. It would relieve a tremendous amount of pressure on him if we could at run the ball.

Re: A team with no leaders

Some of the claims on this message board are just a joke. Nobody here knows anything about who is or isn't stepping up as a leader. Please. Our O-line is horrible and that's why we suck..we were so behind the 8ball when Chizik got here with that line it will take years to recover. Thats it. End of discussion all these threads discussing leadership and coaching are all jokes.

I'm sorry, I think you have this confused with your favorite NFL team (Raiders), only instead of coach, you really meant owner.

Re: A team with no leaders

I disagree. At least on defense if you watch Kurtis Taylor and Kennard Banks, those are two leaders. Taylor will get into his teammates all game long.

Re: A team with no leaders

Leadership is NOT, sitting on the bench with your head down after an interception.
Leadership is being up with your teammates, looking at photos on why it happened and getting ready for the next series.
Leadership is NOT, being the first to run to the lockerroom after taking a knee at the end of the half.l
Leadership is gathering your team, running off the field with your head up and showing you're in the game.
Leadership is evident to a fan if you watch the interaction on the sidelines and after the plays.
I saw some evidence on defense, but very little on offense.

I agree that it doesn't seem like the team has any vocal leaders, but in what way was Bates that?

EDIT -- I amend that comment. The subsequent posts have a point. How do any of us know exactly who are the leaders on the team?
