    Season Ticket Sales 2007

How about the bookkeepers. I'm not saying they should be worried, but to pay for these changes (Coaches salaries) and for the stadium improvements 2 things are needed:

    1. An increase of 20,000 in season tickets
    2. A increase in overall donations to the Athletic Department

We need to get out of the Big XII cellar in terms of Athletic Funding. Only 2 sports at Iowa State will make money, and in reality Football has the potential to make 20X what Men's Basketball will make.

I have been told that in the early 80's, before Criner sank this ship, there were 45 to 50K in season ticket sales. I remember going to games from NW Iowa and having the large bleachers in the North and South endzone and there being very large crowds. CAN it happen again.

The reality is season ticket prices will be much higher in 2007 than they were in the early 80's.

CAN WE GET 45,000 SEASON TICKET HOLDERS NEXT YEAR?

    Is that a reasonable goal?

    No. It isn't....not yet, anyway.

I think 38,000 season tickets for next year is a reasonable goal. Ticket prices will be increased for 2007 and donations will have to be upped as well. I think others that aren't required to donate more will infact donate more.

Add me as a regular season ticket holder for next year, since I wont be able to buy student tickets.

    Re: Season Ticket Sales 2007

could be wrong, but I thought that the goal by 2011 was 35,000 season tickets sold.

It's possible ISU could sell 38k next year, but doubtful.

After last year's dismal performance, and increases in ticket prices coming, if they sell 32,000-33,000 that's a stunning accomplishment.

    Re: Season Ticket Sales 2007

I am hoping for around 35k which could still be a strech. The main thing that each of us current season ticket holders need to do is increase the amount that we donate. I am personally going to double my donation from 500 to 1k, the nice thing is I have a company matching program that I can take advantage of so it really is double that. I encourage everyone to check with their employers to see if they have a matching donation program that you are not taking advantage of. I went a few years assuming they didn't and found out they did all along.

Fatsow, how did you learn of your companies matching program? I'll be starting a new job Jan. 2 and one of the head guys is a big time Hawk fan. I should find out if the company matches and make them give money to ISU

    Re: Season Ticket Sales 2007

For matching funds, do you have to go throught the Alumni Association or some other group to get tax write off's or does the Cyclone Club work?

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

    Re: Season Ticket Sales 2007

I think 32-33K is pretty realistic considering that it's hard to sell tickets after a bad season even with an exciting new coach. To even get an increase over 30K would be a good start. The fact is we still may be no better than a .500 team next season. We still have a lot of holes to fill and unlike we did in basketball it's a lot tougher to fill many holes overnight in FB. Freshmen in FB aren't as easy to insert into big roles right away that is why a lot of the redshirt a year to build up their strength.

    Re: Season Ticket Sales 2007

I think 38K is doable, but more than that next year isn't overly realistic. From my experience, there is a segment of the fanbase that have been long time season ticket holders that will may not be overly excited with increased prices. Not that they aren't big fans, but perhaps it is hitting them in the pocketbook a little harder than they can cover.

I went right through the NCC. All I had to do was include an app that my ER provided me with my contribution. The NCC then sends the app to the ER showing how much I donated, and the ER sends them a check. Pretty slick process.

Vanilla: I would check with your HR dept., or if its a smaller business check with the man himself. Maybe you can negotiate the matching donation into your compensation package if it isn't to late

    Re: Season Ticket Sales 2007

I would be very impressed if season ticket sales are much higher than 32 or 33k. Coming off of a poor season with lots of holes to fill and a tough schedule, plus increased ticket prices is going to make it tough. The excitement of a new coach should help, as should a home slate that includes Oklahoma, Texas, and Iowa. I would be stunned to see sales much higher than this year.... but then again, basketball sales have been great, and not many people are expecting much more than a .500 season there either.

    Re: Season Ticket Sales 2007

I think if we sell 35k season tickets, Jamie Pollard should win a national athletic director award or something. I see us having 32-33k realistically for next year. I'm not saying 35k is out of the question because it's not, I just think it'll take a year or two before the sleeping giant that is the Cyclone Family wakes up and smells the roses. Everyone definately needs to keep doing their part and more!
