Bee Gee's "Staying Alive" may actually help people stay alive

Apperently the beat for "Staying Alive" is close to the rate at which CPR is supposed to be done... a preliminary study indicates that for those trained to do CPR, it may help them in doing the proper number of compressions/minute

I also like the quote at the bottom noting that "Another One Bites the Dust" has the right beat, but may not be as appropriate...

One more reason for me to love the Bee Gee's. (and Queen).

This is too funny. High school class of '78 here, I was part of the disco generation (although at the time I hated it). It's good to know my generation has contributed to the betterment of humanity.....

Well you can tell by the way I use my walk....

And John Travolta could flat out dance. Good memories, thanks for posting!

You wanna know something ironic? The beat for "Sweet Caroline" ain't that far off from the beat of "Staying Alive" or "Another One Bites the Dust." But just what we need - saving someone's life to the tune that was made infamous because of the implications of the molestation of Caroline Kennedy...

Was that before or after he started creating his cave with Tom Cruise out in the mountains?

yeah.. when Neil slipped up and told the reason for the song (earlier this year or late last year?) .... I felt creepy.

Another child of the disco generation here.

Perform CPR on me with Queen playing in the background and I come back to life and may even start to sing along (Which may, in turn, do irrepairable harm to the CPR giver).

Perform CPR on me with the Bee Gees in the background and I run to the light as fast as I can.

    IMHO - Disco STILL sucks.

Actually, Sweet Caroline is considerably faster than either of the other two tunes. Staying Alive is at 101 bpm, while Sweet Caroline is around 120.

What a different era. The drinking age was 18 and many things were much more permissable back then. I only wish I had grown up in the 60's instead of the 70's.

I agree with the disco comment. FWIW, the Bee Gees was a pretty good rock band before it went disco. And personally, I'll never forgive Queen for going disco after the great body of work that band had.
