The two things that stick out the most to me.

    -133 looks pretty tough.
-It seems like Moza Fay has been at UNI for 8 years.

    Re: Intermat Preseason Rankings

ISU has a very formidable line up. It's going to come down to bonus points for them, something they have not been good at the past two years. When I spoke with Cael back in in the spring, this was an area we talked about.

If you want to listen to the podcast, here is a link to the page...just scroll down

Des Moines' Sports Station - 1460 KXNO

Also, towards the end, I asked Cael if his kids were wrestling in the style he wants ISU to be known for. Cael's answer was not stock in trade...I was surprised, and I think ISU wrestling fans will like the answer.

    Re: Intermat Preseason Rankings

Who is going to be at 184 for us? Ward?

If the guys wrestle to their ranking this year in the Iowa match it will be another beatdown.

Cornell looks to have a lot of good wrestlers. We'll have to compare this to the end of the year.

Big Z at 285 seems like he has been at ISU forever too! And he is only a junior. I look for a big year out of him, hopefully he makes a nice anchor for the team.

This year, the champ will come from Iowa, ISU, Ohio State and Cornell.

    I know nothing about wresting.

Are these rankings good? Overall quantity and the fact we have individuals ranked in all but one class?

ISU had 7 all americans last year at nationals, and as Cael said, they scored about the least amount of points you can get with 7 AA's.

ISU has a very good lineup this year. But they are going to have to score more bonus points at nationals to beat Iowa.

    Re: Intermat Preseason Rankings

I think jon's hit it right on the head. Especially with the style that varner, reader, and Z wrestle. While Varner and Z are very dominant in their matches - they won WAY too many 1 and 2 point contests. Even the difference between getting to a major decision, we'd often be one point away. Really one of the biggest things that needs to change for this year. I'm way excited for another great season!

Bingo!! That cost ISU the national championship two years ago, along with a flameout in the wrestlebacks...

This line up is heavy in Jrs and Sophs. Make an impact this year.. and things start falling into place.

Ha, I did the same thing thinking, "oh, wow three guys in a row with 'junior' after their name." Then, after I figured it out I thought, "wow, ISU doesn't have single senior up there." Should be a really good couple of years.
