    What Texas fans are saying!

    Gene Chizik to Iowa St
WOW. How the hell did Iowa State convince Chizik to leave the money, facilities, and support of Texas and come to Ames, IA?

The Iowa State Cyclones have a new Head Football Coach. ABC5 Sports Director John Walters has confirmed the Cyclones have hired University of Texas Defensive Coordinator Gene Chizik. Chizik will officially introduced at a news conference tonight at 6 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum. ABC5 Sports is in Ames, and will be there all day getting you the latest information. You can see the news confrence live on ABC5 Television.

Looks like some 'Horn fans are getting their wish?

Personally, I deem it a great loss, and feel our defensive woes were a result of poor linebacking play, not Chizik's abilities as a DC.

What a sh*tty past 5 days. The 'Horns lose to Aggie, the holiday weekend crowds badly f*cked up the hunting and fishing on the coast (real clusterfluvks everywhere), and now this!! <IMG id=_x0000_i1030 height=15 alt=">:" src="cid:image002.gif@01C71248.3BE299C0" width=15 border=0>

    Geeeez.....

That was my reaction as well. A private plane, supposedly owned by Troy Aikman, has departed Austin and will be in Ames by 11.

Unbelievable!!! How could Mack allow his defensive coordinator to interview for a job with a conference rival while we were trying to win the Big XII Championship and get to a BCS bowl game?????

Is it possible that we can get Greg Robinson back from syracuse?? He's the best DC we've had in many years.

Why would Robinson take a demotion? There's no reason for it.

I am wondering if Chizik and Akina were at odds and MB backed his more senior staffer triggering Chizik's departure for a job many thought below his ambitions.

I am also wondering if Chizik's interview process affected his coaching in the KSU and ATM games, but that is pure speculation which may be off base depending on the timing of the announcement of ISU's decision to can their coach.

Wonder if he takes Giles with him? That would be a loss.

There's another thread about GD interviewing for job at Bama, even though there's no link. Has anyone heard if this is any more than a rumor?

    Maybe Tenuta.

Not worrying about the status of any defensive recruit because of Chizik's leaving. Coach Brown will replace with a quality coordinator. Personally, am really hoping it will be Shannon; would be a huge addition to our program.

Bama would never consider Davis, their program is far beyound the ability of Davis to manage and coach. Also, Davis would never take a HC job because he would be held accountable for his results and would be fired when he underacheived. He has a cushion job right now and he won't ever leave on his own accord.

    Tenuta would be HUGE!

F Chizik if he wants to go to Iowa State! I always thought he would do the right thing and NOT go to another Big XII school...guess I was wrong. I also don't think it would be too far fetched to think that his interviewing affected his coaching during the KSU and aggy game. Not saying it definitely did...but it's certainly possible! I just hope we take this opporunity to get a big name!

Definitely not a loss. His defenses were average at best. Vince covered his *** last year.

Jerry Gray as DC? He is only a position coach right now for the Redskins.

Whomever we get, I hope he coaches from the sidelines and lets one of his assistants do the booth thing. You can get away with the OC in the booth but the DC needs to be on the field.

For some sorry reason they still think that they lost to TAMU because Chizik's defense allowed them to score 12 whole points.

While their offense scored only 7.

This is like when your really hot girlfriend dumps you for someone else. You go tell all your friends she was a bit*h anyway and I really didn't like here since she wouldn't put out etc, etc. Of course when you were with her she was everything you could have hoped for.

When visiting the TX board earlier this season, the fans were all concerned about Chizik leaving for A&M at the end of the season.
