    Re: Bowen gets some attention

Bowen & Mckenzie have to be chomping at the bit with our new coach, has anyone heard comments by those two players?

I think he should be elated at first team all big 12. When your team is 4-8 and 1-7 in the conference your not going to get a lot of all american looks. I don't care how many tackles you had. Especially when the D gave up as many points as it did. He should be happy that he even got all conference honors, not saying he didnt deserve it

well maybe not all american but he should at least get honarble mention

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

There should be some talented players on the team eager to prove themselves in their senior year...

    Re: Bowen gets some attention

As much as I love the guy and would like to see it, I disagree. He missed a lot of tackles and his stats were inflatted due to our D being on the field 65 percent of the game. He is a good LB but not one of the elite. If we had any size at LB we would have him playing SS.

    Re: Bowen gets some attention

It's official if you think that Bowen is a top 10 LB in college football than you are an unintelligent fan and a huge ISU homer. And probably on crack. Listen I love this guy. Think he is great. But he is not better than Dobbins was for the Clones. Imagine how many tackles Dobbins would have had if he was on the field as much as Bowen. The reason Bowen had so many tackles too is b/c his pass coverage was something I like to call awful and he chased the guys down and tackled him. I think you guys think that i dont think he is good. Cuz I do, but he is not a top 10 LB in the country. End of discussion

dinger7203 your an idiot. Plain and simple. If you watched the games, which im sure you did, then you saw how many missed tackles bowen really did have. I'm not sure whether to laugh at you or just say your a complete idiot.

    Re: Bowen gets some attention

haha i will laugh at your post! Agreed. Good LB. Not great. Great speed. Lack of size. Have him bulk up and be taught some good tackling, and we just may be in business

    Re: Bowen gets some attention

Alvin will be MUCH better next season, and Tyrone McKenzie is just as quality of a player... but the reason Bowen did have so many tackles.... he was willing, he always had his motor running, someone has to tackle the offensive man no matter how long the defense is out there, and Alvin sure did his damndest..
Chizik runs a Tampa 2 which relys on athletic undersized linebackers, like Bowen,McKenzie,Banks,Carper... it also relys on athletic defensive ends and big physical tackles.. Rubin..... the defensive ends spread out forcing the offensive tackle to get on the pony and go get the end, opening up room in the middle for the backers and tackles.... Bowen McKenzie and carper and or Banks are perfect for a Tampa 2 defense
