    JJ Bass

What do folks think - will JJ Bass get some more reps this week? Seemed like he had some momentum (the only one) in the last game - however - didn't get many snaps.

Maybe with our weak running game we should have two backs in at all times.

(sorry this should have been under the Football category)

    Re: JJ Bass

I think JJ Bass will have a field day against Nebraska overcommitted linebackers.

I thought he was a bright spot against UNLV as well... I hope he gets more carries.

    Re: JJ Bass

I think ARob should have a good day against Nebraska also. I think ARob speed will do more then JJ's elusiveness against Nebraska, but they will probably both play.

Just out of curiosity, what happened to Scales? I was never a huge fan of Scales (saw him more of a FB then a RB) but I haven't heard a thing about him since the beginning of the season.

Based on Chizik's comments from his weekly presser, yes. He will be out there early and often.

    Re: JJ Bass

we should line up in more i form sets, we seem to run better out of those than shotgun all the time.

    Re: JJ Bass

Well, I've heard coaches say that plenty of times just to appease people at the time, however, Chizik seems different - we'll find out.

I'd like to see both of them in together causing trouble for NE.

    Re: JJ Bass

I think JJ is gonna really come out one of these games, Talk to him and he realizes he only has a short time left in his football career, he has worked extremely hard to overcome every set back he faces. Hope fully he can get it rolling against NU before coaches decide to pull him.

    Re: JJ Bass

He has looked better than anyone else. It's REALLY puzzled me why we haven't seen more of him. I hate to be the fan who thinks they know more than the coaches, but from the stands, it doesn't seem like our game plan always makes that good of use of our talent. Just my observation/opinion.

    Re: JJ Bass

I'd really like to see Bass run all over kNU. I thought he looked really good last week against Baylor but we seemed to abandon that and I really don't know why. The Coaches said the wanted to establish a running game and I thought in the 3 or 4 carries in the 1st series Bass was in, he did establish a running game. Odd how that just didn't go any further.

Didn't Bass' good runs come from the "heavy"set? (I think the heavy set is a two tightend set) I thought I heard Ben Bruns mention after Bass's runs that our "heavy" set was very productive and we would continue using it. Unfortunately we came out in the spread and fizzled. Can anyone who saw the game explain it for me?

    Re: JJ Bass

i wish we saw him more too, however, the knock on him is he isnt very good at pass pro. If i was a coach, every player on my team would be able to block. even the QB, ala brett favre. so i see where they are coming from. protection is essential to an effective passing game and you cant swap RB's everytime you want to pass..

    Re: JJ Bass

ARob has looked better against some teams while JJ has been ineffective. And against other teams, JJ has been effective and while ARob struggles. They are pretty close at this point of the year. If it's about smash mouth, hit the hole and go for more, ARob is the man. If it's more about cutbacks, then JJ is the man. If we could combine them, we'd have a hell of a RB. Well, that, and if our line was better...

    Re: JJ Bass

Depends on whether we're down two touchdowns or not. If we have the lead, nebby will see an awful lot of JJ.

    Re: JJ Bass

Given how JJ played against Baylor, I would've thought he'd earn more carries. Maybe he will.

Doesn't explain why on Monday he was #3 on the depth chart though. Has that changed?
