    Talking My football facilities dream

Chizek brings us success. Jack Trice enhancements are nice but finally the core structure is crumbling and we have the $ to do better. The NEW Cyclone stadium is built....70,000 seats. Retractable roof to keep out the wind and nasty November weather. Luxury suites. Yeah baby.

thats a nice dream but no one in college let alone the majority of NFL teams have capabilities to build something like that.

That may be a little bit crazy, but I like where your head is at.

Nice! Maybe not quite that, but that would be cool.

"Fifty-two years ago, Dr. James H. Hilton dreamed of an Iowa State Center, which would revolutionize campus. Skeptics called him "unrealistic" and "just plain crazy". But Dr. Hilton persisted and his dream was realized. That same forward thinking is what inspires us to believe we can elevate Iowa State University's facilities to a level fitting one of the nation's truly outstanding education centers."

Come on guys! OK, I could compromise with a little less glass on the entrance.

We'll have enough cash to divert the Skunk River to Iowa City...no worries.

    Re: My football facilities dream

I think the Skunk river comes from Iowa City, doesn't it?! Maybe we could afford that stadium after our fifteenth straight BCS appearance. Anyone see the post on the Central Michigan board the other day? One of them said that ISU has a jet, and the next post "Jet? They have a jet? Do we at least have a biplane?"

I've always thought the fields where the old towers were located would be perfect for an oldschool brick and stone 60K seat bowl stadium. It would have that on campus feel etc. Now traffic control, that would be a different story.

"Were" located? They still ARE there... Only two of the four got demolished last summer. The southern pair (Wallace/Wilson) are still there, as is the Knapp-Storms Commons. Wallace Hall actually has people living in it, and Wilson is opening up next year. The Commons is now the central bakery for ISU Dining and the central kitchen for the catering service. I don't think a football stadium would work out too well that far away from campus.

Besides, that's probably where they're going to put the new marching band field since they're building MORE engineering stuff on top of our current one...

    True and Valiant

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.
