    THE RUN

So I was just flipping channels and paused on the Best Damn Sports Show and noticed the were showing the "Top 50 Unforgettable College Football moments" Sure enough #19 came up and it was none other than Mr. Wallace and the run they labeled "The Cyclone Ranger"

Im sure this has been discussed before, but the thing that I was most intrigued about is this:

What would a big play, on national TV, against a potent opponent (Nebraska on VS) have on the morale of the team and fan base?

I know I dont post much here but I do enjoy reading what people have to say and like to see how the general opinion sways from week to week.

IMO, I would say that a spectacular play on some level, late in the game to seal the win this weekend could give us quite a boost in momentum, especially after last week...just my ramblings on a tuesday afternoon

    Re: THE RUN

Interesting topic and a good one, IMO.

I think something even close to "The Run" would do wonders for our fans and our team... especially if it helps us win the game.

*On a related note, did anyone see that play that Baylor had against us where the runner ran all over the field for a TD against us? Did anyone have "The Run" pop up in their mind too?

    Re: THE RUN

The last big play that I remember that had any big implications was Curvey's Fumble Rumble (Or "Curvey All-the-Way" if you prefer!) in 2005 versus Colorado. That was such a memorable game, ranging from the tornado that touched down a mere hour from kickoff to the implications it had towards our Big 12 North title chances.

    Curvey had the interception.

Anything great that would put us on Sportscenter and all the highlight shows (is a positive way for us) would be great. We need all the positive press we can get to help get some more players in here.

FWIW... Kendall Wright's (Baylor) 51-yard criss-cross TD catch/run against us was on ESPN "Top Plays" Saturday night. Ugh. Pretty sweet play by the Freshman, though. That kid has skills.

It wasn't nearly as good as Curvey's, however.

    Re: THE RUN

I was just thinking, while seeing "The Run" in another thread that that play won us that game. I was really worried about TTech coming in here that night. And knowing the way that season ended, probably rightfully so. That play got everyone so pumped up that night there was no way we were going to lose that game. Plays like Hicks' INT for a TD against Iowa, Curvey's INT and TD, all of those plays are game changing performances (not to steal an idea), but they are. I'd love to see something resembling those plays in a game like this Saturday. I have to admit though, I doubt I'll ever personally see anything ever as great as "The Run" again. I truly believe that was one of those "Once in a lifetime" moments to actually see in person.

    Re: THE RUN

It's one of those plays that you remember where you were at when it happened. Unfortunately I wasn't able to see it in person, but I was definately hollering at Union Station in CR that night.

Great call... That was something I will never forget.

Ending up in Hilton for a tornado warning... with the ENTIRE marching band. You haven't heard loud until the ENTIRE marching band starts playing the fight song INSIDE Hilton Coliseum.

Then a great game played by the Cyclones...

    Re: THE RUN

What a great night.... sadly that was really the high mark for ISU football. It was a great game, the most amazing play I have ever seen, and a big conference win that lifted us to #9 in the nation and had Seneca in the talk for the Heisman. And then came OU......

It seems like ever since that game we just haven't been able to get a break and make a big step forward. At the time it seemed like the beginning, but looking back it really seems more like the end.

I would give anything to feel the way about ISU football that I felt after that game.

    I can't believe Wallace's run wasn't top 5 or even #1.

I don't know. I'd say we had this chance against ku. Having a play like this against an average (at best) team like nebraska won't mean that much...
