    Flyover Saturday

Finally we are going to have a pre-game flyover on Saturday vs. Nebraska!

    From Eye on Cy email:

As the final pre-game preparations wind down Saturday, Iowa State football fans will be treated to a jet flyover by the U.S. Navy’s VFA-97 Warhawks squadron. Based out of NAS Lemoore, Calif., lead pilot Lt. Chris Glandon and wing pilot Heath Hoppes will fly their aircraft over Jack Trice Stadium prior to kickoff of the ISU vs. Nebraska game. Glandon is a 2002 ISU graduate from Sigourney, Iowa.

“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”

"I hope to coach here until I retire," Hoiberg said.

Fantastic! I love the rush when they breeze over the stadium. The crowd will certainly be juiced!

It looks like they will be flying F/A-18 Hornets also. Awesome! That guy must be a pretty good aviator, that is a sweet gig flying those.

Yeah, you have to remember how fast they can get from CA to Iowa. That, or they may be out in Omaha doing some training or manuevers. It makes some sense in the military world.

    I get that, hairy.

But I doubt the Navy lets it's pilots buzz their alma maters all that often.

Just the proximity is odd. Not a short flight - say like the F16s we usually get out of the Ia Air Guard in DSM.

I would like to be a fighter pilot in another life.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

    Re: Flyover Saturday

Yeah I'd hope they aren't flying 4000 miles just to fly over Jack Trice... (~2000 miles each way).

I have requested flyovers for 4th of July Celebrations and it is all who you know and knowing the right person that can approve it.

He's not the commander or anything.

Just the lead in Saturday's flight.

I wonder if we can get him to fly over at key points in the game, like on Nebraska 3rd downs.
