    Call in show

Why do people feel the need to call in and give the coach or AD a pep talk?

The gap in our economy is between what we have and what we think we ought to have--and that is a moral problem, not an economic one. - Paul Heyne

    Re: Call in show

Probably the same reason they call in to tell coach or JP their life story. I don't know what that reason is, because I don't do either, but it's just as annoying.

That reminds me of an interesting story. Well it's not so much interesting as it is long. Anyways...

I agree. It's annoying. Just ask the question!

The pep talk to the AD was an improvement over the old lady that just berated Chizik because the coaches wear black slacks on the sidelines. Black is the color of the Hawks according to the caller.

No word if she has any black in her wardrobe or not...

I think she was actually referring to his shirt - one of our assistants who calls in plays looks a lot like Chiz on the sidelines and he wears a black shirt (as do all of our playcallers it seems). I think she was confused

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

Denny in Clear Lake really likes what coach is doing. Hopes the team keeps their heads up. This past weekend was just a bump in the road.

I quit listening to these shows years ago. I got tired of hearing Denny from Clear Lake, Cyclone Jerry and Diamond Dave all rant on endlessly about meaningless topics

One caller was behind Gene 200% while a later caller was behind him 100%. Fortunately for Gene, subsequent callers didn't continue the trend. Also Gene might be scoping out the local Goodwill to see if any of Dan's old tan pants are still on the rack.

Agreed. The one that was only behind him 100% is not the kind of fan we need. Bring it 200% of the time or don't bring it at all.

Don't forget he asked coach if he could hook him up with OU/Tex tickets sometime.

On a more serious note, there were a few OL comments. Knapp is still recovering from the surgery and wasn't ready to play at Baylor. No decision as yet on a possible return this week. Haughton actually started the Baylor game even though the game recap indicates otherwise. The staff hopes that he doesn't get too wide-eyed going against Nebraska in his 1st home start. Not concerned about the FR DB's as they have been playing on a regular basis.

Yuck. I remember how sweaty those things got sometimes. Intensity + tan pants= half time pants change.

I remember one game where I thought he needed Depends.
