For those of you who believe what this site says...

    Coaches Hot Seat Ranking

Cousin kirk went from top 10 to out of the top 25 (#35)just by throttling a mediocre Indiana team.

I wonder where Bowden was listed before today...

Thank goodness we have a coach that will never sniff that list! Class all the way, and would never have his team on steroids like freerents has. If we were in the b10 we'd most likely be in the Rose Bowl THIS YEAR!

Uhhhh...Chizik has moved up to #20. Here is their preseason 2008 analysis:

    Gene Chizik

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

They actually have a pretty good record. Something like 8 out of 10 coaches that started the 2007 season on their "top ten" hot list were fired last year.

That coach in Ames needs to get his stuff together or he will be moving up that list.

Re: For those of you who believe what this site says...

Thanks for pointing that out to me. No, I did not see that. That is outrageous. 18 months into a program that was left in shambles and get put on a list like this? Above #10 it looks like they are just filling spaces.

I bet you $100 that the person connected with this list is connected to Iowa and just doing it to kick sand on us and to cover for the coach who should really be #1........

By the end of the year, our coach will be in a bowl game, and Freerents will be looking for work down at the steel mill.

Of course they're just filling spaces. They list every coach in the country, 1 to 120, in order of who is more likely to be fired. In a typical year, no more than 5-15 are in danger of actually being fired. But -- the ones who aren't in danger of being fired this year aren't necessarily equal. You're right, Gene won't get fired, but his job is not as safe (#20) as Charlie Weis' (42), Mark Mangino's (92), or Mack Brown's (120). That's life in the college coaching business.

I like how Joe Tiller is towards the top of the list, especially since he anounced his retirement before the season started.

On another tangent from that site, I noticed that in their top assistants, Bolt is rated #96 in the country and #3 in the Big XII...

Tiller really didn't retire - forced out more like it.
