    Microsoft Office 2007

I am not what you would call a Microsoft fanboy by any means, but I've gotta say I am really liking Office 2007. I mainly work with Word and Powerpoint, but am starting to use OneNote more and more as well.

I got the Ultimate Steal deal a while back, and even though I know that free/online apps do much of the same stuff, I think 60 bucks for the entire suite is a good deal.

Any thoughts on Office 2007 for or against?

I love it. Some tools and such were hard to find at first but once you get used to it, its flows nice. Im all about new experiences so you wont hear me complain.

    Re: Microsoft Office 2007

I'm liking it. We had an offer at work that we got the full blown enterprise edition for just $30. The tabs vs drop down menus at the top are wonderful. So much easier to find some of the less used features that you used to spend minutes on going through all the submenus to find.

I downloaded IE8 Beta yesterday and so far I'm liking some of the new features: Windows Internet Explorer 8: Home page There's a video on there somewhere but the coolest is you can highlight an address on a webpage, right click and map it with Live Maps and it opens another tab with the map where you can get directions or see a birds eye view, etc.

    Re: Microsoft Office 2007

I really like 2007 so far, I still don't know why they felt the need to move around so many buttons/tools, but it only took a little to get used to. I'd be nervous about some of our less than computer savvy users may think of it though, probably why we haven't pushed it out yet.

I really like it. I was at a seminar earlier this summer and the speaker said they have only not been able to find 1 previous tool.

It's file formats are incompatible by default from other office products. Not a big deal in a small shop or for a single user, but can cause headaches as more people are involved.

    I do like onenote.

Word 2007 has been a bit of a pain at work, where we have to use fill-in and ask fields a lot. Have to run it in compatibility mode and rename the normal.dotm. For personal use, it's awesome. I really like Outlook 2007 a lot.

    Re: Microsoft Office 2007

I mainly use it to write academic papers and stuff, and I love the built-in reference manager/bibliography generator. That saves me a ton of time. They make creating a table and other tasks really easy, too.

I went from Office 2000 to 2007, so that may explain my excitement.

    Re: Microsoft Office 2007

I'm a fan. It's by far the best office suite out there, and it's really not close. Visio 2007 is great.

By the way, openoffice 3.0 came out today finally. It's free, so check it out. It's certainly no MS office, but the price is right.

We still use Office 2000 here at work. Somehow I ended up with Outlook 2003, though, so I guess we're kinda movin up someday.

I'm hoping OpenOffice 3.0 will give me some more options.

Agreeing with you there, for me there was an initial learning curve but I like it.

I love it now that I'm used to where everything is at.

Of course, it didn't hurt that it only cost $9.00
