    Brett Meyer's reaction

I waited after the press conference and watched Meyer and Blythe get interviewed. As Meyer was walking out of Hilton I started to walk with him since he walked out alone.

I asked him what he thought of the hire. He said he was excited and was glad ISU hired someone who has succeeded and knows what it takes to win. He seemed genuinely pumped about Chizik. He then got a call on his cell so I couldn't really asked him anymore.

I know us fans are all pumped. It's great to hear the same reaction from one of the star players.

I agree..It is good to see players giving a new coach a chance rather than leaving right away!

Totally true....more importantly than our opinion I was really hoping for a hire that would stoke the players. JP owed to them.

Caleb Berg and Singleton better start practicing tackling for next year. We are going to be more physicial like Madonna says.

none would stand when we stood for ovations, and few clapped until Macs name was mentioned...but that was just my observation.

I know this is cheesy, but I saw that. I was watching him and saw you ask a question and then he got a call. I was hoping to walk over to where he walked up but he was still talking.

This has got to be a hire that would make all the players pumped up for those that are coming back.

Its a bummer for those Juniors, soon to be seniors to not finish out their career with Mac, but I think that got one hell of a replacement.

    Re: Brett Meyer's reaction

For those of you who haven't read the AP story, here's a great quote from Blythe:

But wide receiver Todd Blythe said Chizik made a strong first impression with the players.

"You can tell he's a no nonsense guy. That's something we need in this program," Blythe said. "He told us he's not a guy that's going to be content with five, six, seven wins, and that's exactly how we feel as players."

    Bret Sportin the Fro

“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”

"I hope to coach here until I retire," Hoiberg said.

    Re: Brett Meyer's reaction

Blythe is and has been a big leader for this team, it is good to see that he is not going to turn his back on the new coach (not that I expected him to) and that he is looking forward to next season.
