What if Neb. has our play book

With the game with Nebraska only a couple weeks away and Bates apparently heading west.....does it seem feasible that he would help the coaches out with a copy of ISU's playbook, signals, and other tips to help the cornholes out?

Obviously GC and Co. will change signals and signs - but I think this might put ISU in a huge disadvantage. It is not too often your QB changes during midseason and runs to a team that you are going to play in 2 weeks.

Maybe I am just a little parnoid.

Re: What if Neb. has our play book

If Bates does end up transferring to Nebraska in the next couple days (unlikely in my opinion), I don't see how this is crazy talk. Of course he is going to at least relay our signs, offer advice, or something. A whole printed playbook most likely doesn't fall into the hands of a player though.

He's not going to transfer to Nebraska before next week though, so it's a moot point.

I still don't think Nebraska's defense could stop us!

The coaches would be naive not to consider the possibility.

Re: What if Neb. has our play book

They already have our playbook. It's called game film. You're better off watching our 5 games so far this year an analyzing that for hours on end than you would be sifting through our playbook for 10 minutes. We've already shown what we do on the field. They might get some insight into audibles, but my guess is that PBs audibles were probably a little more slanted towards his maneuverability than what AAs might be.

Re: What if Neb. has our play book

If they want our playbook they can just watch video tape of us. It's not really that big of a deal unless the playbook says "playbook for the Nebraska game".

Re: What if Neb. has our play book

Its not a far fetched idea.

Back when I was playing a full back transferred here from Nebraska and he brought their playbook with him and gave it to the coaches.

I saw with my own eyes and heard with my ears the coaches tell him to dispose of it because it was property of Nebraska football and he could get into a lot of trouble for distributing it. So it was shredded on the spot.

Yeah, it would be completely unethical for a program to use that. In the end though, a playbook is mostly just a playbook. It's tendencies and reacting to in game situations that you really need to look at. That comes from film.
