    Question for 33...

    ...regarding Kennard Banks.

It's been nearly 6 weeks since he broke his arm/wrist. Any word as to whether or not he might see the field again this year?

Unfortunately, those "medical hardship" years are awfully tough to get from the NCAA, and certainly shouldn't be counted on.

    Thanks, as always.

We should have learned by now not to count on the NCAA for any favors towards the Cyclones, anyway.

I love how Banks is so into the game on the sidelines. Any time a big play happens near the ISU sidelines I always see him jumping up and down and congratulating the players. It could have been easy for him to get down after finding out he would be missing lots of the season.

Yeah it's great to see him so positive on the sidelines, and during pregame warmups. Can't wait to get him back on the field.

Talking medical hardship/redshirts, how many did Tony Yelk have? I swear he played for ISU 7-8 years (I think he was here 6, played in 5 different years, but I could be wrong...) I still have both senior day programs with him in the flashy suits

Jess Settles played BB 8 years at Iowa.

    Re: Question for 33...

I hope he doesn't waste the strong probability of a medical hardship just to play in a couple games. If he's not ready by the time we travel to Oklahoma State, it's just not worth wasting a year.

I'd like to see him get the hardship year too, I just hate the thought of having to play "eligibility roulette" with the NCAA. It just seems certain he/we will get hosed.

It's such a shame that Kennard has to be in this position. He looks like an awesome talent, and good teammate, based on the enthusiasm and support he has been showing on the sidelines.

I just hope things work out well for him, and he enjoys a productive rest of his career at ISU.

    Re: Question for 33...

I think he will play if we can win 2 of 3 against Baylor, Neb and A&M. Then we have a chance to beat Colorado and K-State. And I agree. IF we have a chance to win 6 (very slim) we play everyone we can. That is huge for recruiting.

Don't you have to use all of your eligibility up before you even apply for a medical hardship?

Banks was laying the WOOD before he got hurt.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

    Re: Question for 33...

    Looking at his bio
Played at Western Michigan in 2005
Attended JC in 2006, didn't play
    Played at JC in 2007

If he does not play anymore this year he would then have to appeal to the NCAA to have 6 years to play 4. Jess Settles or Tony Yelk would be examples. I don't think he can make that appeal until after his 5th year.

I think that the NCAA has limited these 6th year appeals to players who have missed 2 years with injuries. Players who didn't play for a year due to academics, sitting out a transfer, or just taking a non-playing redshirt normally don't qualify.

I guess the question here might come down to why he sat out in 2006. Was it an injury or something else.
