    Texas' Reaction

Certainly interesting. Some are happy/mad while others wish he was still there.

Just posted this on another thread as well, but I'll say it here as well. I think the Texas fans are trying to spin this like they didn't want him anymore or didn't need him anymore. But that only comes out after he has said he is leaving.

I remember when the coaching search started, Texas fans said he was good. Very good. And they said things like "No offense, but no way would Chizik go to ISU."

    Re: Texas' Reaction

No kidding. There are far worse head coaching positions... Temple, Buffalo, Sun Belt, CUSA teams for example.

    Re: Texas' Reaction

Keep in mind that Texas has dropped their last two games, so their fans are probably a little salty about things in general right now.

    Re: Texas' Reaction

I like how they're blaming Chizik's interviewing for the ISU job as a possible reason for their losses.

    Idiots.

Texas doesn't lose games, someone always loses it for them. Come on, they are Texas. They are far superior to you and I.

HAHAHA. Yeah, that Broyles Award and dominating defenses at Auburn and Texas were just superficial. Thanks for that indepth analysis.

I guess it's the fact that they're Texans to begin with, compounded by the fact that they won the Nat'l Championship last year. The arrogance is reaching all-time highs.

    Re: Texas' Reaction

The best one is "Chiz" is at best the 10 th best prospect in country and would not be considered for better SEC or ACC job! His stock was going down so he took the ISU job due to his defense being exposed??

Funny $_it !!!! Man the Hook'em crowd is twisted right now!

    Re: Texas' Reaction

I am very excited about the hire and will be at Hilton tonight. I just hope people don't think Chizzy will be here for a long time. His stock was dropping and needed to make a move quick. Here is a post from a Texas message board that I think sums up my thoughts...

"Re: Gene Chizik to Iowa St I have a different take on Chizik. He may have come to the conclusion that he can't go from an Asst HC/DC to the head coaching job he ultimately wants. For a premiere SEC program he's going to have to show that he can do the whole job, not just the defense. Looking ahead at what's going on with the Longhorns, he might have decided this is the year to move. Taking a basket case like ISU means that a turn around is quite possible and he will be seen as taking a loser program and making it into a winner. That's what top schools are looking for in a HC, I think, and it's what Mack did at UNC. Staying out of the SEC for this job make the ultimate move to an SEC HC job easier." I actually don't think this is too far off base. Distractions like interviewing for a new position can really affect your ability to perform at your current position. I wouldn't be surprised if the defensive lapse during the KSU game had something to do with the DC being distracted, and the players feeling something might be going on.
