Baylor should have hired Mike Singletary

Briles is ok, but Singletary would have been huge. I can remember when ISU never stood a chance against Baylor. Soon as Teaff left that all changed. On the other hand I'd love to see ISU do well in the Big 12, just not against us.

I think the feeling is pretty mutual from our side too. Baylor is sort of the straight-laced kindred spirit of ISU in the Big XII south. I'd love to see the big schools down there humbled a bit by a resurgent Baylor.

Singletary would have been a great hire, but I don't think you can complain about what Briles is doing there at all.

I think it was Singletary who decided they werent on the same page and therefore didnt want the job.

That's too bad for Baylor. I am a huge Singletary fan. If nothing else, he would bring intensity and desire to the program.

Pretty sad when you turn down your alma matter.

Re: Baylor should have hired Mike Singletary

There was more to the story than Mike turning down the BU job, but that's history. We had the chance then blew it. Now after you guys play us go beat the hell out of Nebraska! I like seeing them humbled too!

I would like to see an ISU/Baylor Big 12 Championship game. That would be a dream come true. Maybe someday.

Yeah, and they could have him suit up as well. He can probably still bring it and would be an upgrade at LB.

Re: Baylor should have hired Mike Singletary

Wow...A Baylor troll on an ISU board. Singletarians unite everywhere, I guess. Get a clue, bud. We did the right thing. Singletary was in no way, shape, or form qualified to be a D-1 Head Coach in the Big 12. Briles was. We made the right hire. Get over it.

He didn't turn down Baylor. Baylor turned him down. The only reason he was even interviewed was to make alumni happy. It was a generosity thing. The whole time it was Houston Nutt or Art Briles. When Nutt went to Ole Miss, there was no question about who was coming to Waco.

Baylor had a pretty decent run, including a conference championship, from 1980-1992 while we were quite bad...
