    Re: Blackberry Applications

I just got an 8330 last week. So far, I've downloaded Opera as my browser (download Opera Mini from www.opera.com). I downloaded something called VibAndRing from Crackberry that will cause the ring tone to sound immediately AND vibrate, instead of waiting for X number of vibrations to start the ringtone. I'm still searching for other downloads, however. I would recommend installing the CD that came with the phone (the Download Manager) if you plan on synchronizing your phone with Outlook or another app.

Based off of some good advice from Jeremy, I set up different profiles for night than I use during the day - phone calls and texts still make a sound and vibrate, but I have ringtone notifications turned off for the Messenger and e-mail.

CrackBerry.com ‚€“ The #1 Site for BlackBerry Users & Abusers has some great forums and I know in one of the sections they have a sticky with most of the more poplular apps, free and paid.

Viigo and tellme are my favorites besides the typical news and sports direct site apps.

This sounds like some sort of adult application combo package deal.

    Re: Blackberry Applications

Yes you can split your text and emails and your phone calls are always separate in your call log. There is a setting to not put a duplicate in your inbox but not sure where anymore. Please check out the crackberry.com forums they have so much info for new users, it is very helpful. I found most of the stuff you were asking by playing around with the phone and using those forums.

    Here ya go.....
open the message folder>options>general options>SMS and EMail inboxes - change this.

click on the the phone icon>options>call logging - change this

    Re: Blackberry Applications

I think the Blackberry is very nice and for business, it's probably tops with being able to synchronize to all the microsoft "crap" :)

My question is, does blackberry have a host of apps like the iPhone does? I'm very apple biased and I love my iPod touch but I'm just interested in knowing more about what is available out there for blackberrys.

I got a ISU theme for my verizon 8830. I also downloaded NFL mobile live that is from sprint and it works on my verizon phone.

Where did you get both of these?

I love my iPods, too (the Touch in particular), and was really wanting to hold out for an iPhone. I love my new Blackberry, though. There are tons of different apps - check out this page:

    BlackBerry Software - Crackberry Store

You can even install some themes that make the screen look like an iPhone, with the blocks and all. LINK

It's so easy-to-use. I would compare it with an Apple product in ease of use. You can synchronize your address book/calendar/task list with Outlook or Outlook Express, too, so you can make edits/changes on your PC rather than on the phone (if your eyes are crappy like mine and you also refuse to wear glasses ).

I have been having trouble lately with alert sounds. I made a custom profile and when my calendar has an item go off it plays no sound, just the light. Its driving me nuts.
