    Jeremy- Recruiting impact

I would imagine that this would only have a positve impact on recruiting but do you see any big time recruits from Texas following Gene here.

I'm more concerned with keeping our current recruits, especially Bates. Anything else is a bonus but I can see this as a big plus for the next class as I would think he has some good ties with Texas schools.

I don't think he'd have much of an impact on offensive recruits from Texas right off the bat, but I'm really hoping some of the 4* or 5* defensive recruits decide to follow him here. God knows this defense NEEDS it.

If your more concerned about keeping our current recruits than it is a good thing you are not doing the recruiting. We only have 5 guys right now and we need about 20 more. Yeah focus on 5 guys rather than the rest. Bates is good but he is not the biggest of our needs

    Re: Jeremy- Recruiting impact

What HS defensive player wouldn't want to play for him?

I doubt he'd bring any Texas commits with him, but I'm sure there are some players that Texas didn't offer that would listen to him.

"Come to play for me at Iowa State. I coached the defense for the National Champions last year."

That should be about all that needs to be said.

    Re: Jeremy- Recruiting impact

I would think Bates would like this news but some of the others will have to ponder how it impacts them. I agree though that this is probably a much better move recruiting wise than Kelly would have been, both for current recruits and obviously for future ones.
