    Dick Jauron

Listened to part of an interview with him on ESPN radio. Really like the guy and he's obviously doing a nice job out there in Buffalo. With all the injuries/adversity they sustained last year - it seems to have made the team stronger - gotta give the coach a lot of that credit.

Never been a guy that liked Buffalo - but I'll be pulling for them this season.

I'm a Chiefs fan but a Bears fan also to a lesser extent. I thought he got hosed at Chicago. They struggled mightily with injuries and lack of a quarterback while he was there. He didn't deserve to get canned there.

I did not think it was his time to leave, but when it happened i was not upset. he wasnt my favorite coach, but he beat the hell out of the wannstache. i am satisfied with lovie, besides his insistance on playing rex for so long, which im sure angelo and phillips had a say in.

    +1

I felt that way the day he got canned.

    -1

Dick Jauron was a pretty bad coach in Chicago. He caught lightning in a bottle in 2001 when they finished 13-3. However, they didn't win a playoff game and lost in the divisional round at home.

    His Chicago record:
    1999 - 6-10
    2000 - 5-11
    2001 - 13-3
    2002 - 4-12
    2003 - 7-9

He was given plenty of time by NFL standards and couldn't get the job done. Not sure how he got hosed.

    Re: Dick Jauron

He started to turn the thing around. I see excuses listed miles long referring to injuries and horrid QB play - explaining why Chicago has been struggling.

Yet none of that is plausible for Jauron, apparently.

So Jauron had to deal with "injuries" for 4 out of his 5 years? I doubt that.

The fact is that Lovie had a relatively healthy team...made it to the Super Bowl. He had some major injuries last year...7-9 finish. The team is healthy so far this year...they look like a playoff team. Jauron had 3 horrid years, 1 below average year, and one very good year. Injuries or no injuries, that doesn't get it done in the NFL.

Ah, so his first two years there he needed to win right away...following a poor coach and working on putting his system together? Our new coaches get "passes" in their first couple years...

The NFL is a little different than college.

I just don't see how you can say Jauron got a raw deal in Chicago when he was given 5 seasons. 3 horrid seasons, 1 below average season, and one good season where they lost their first playoff game...those add up to losing your job in the NFL. How many years should he have had? 6? 8?

Especially when his sucessor took that team a Division crown (although they did lose in the first round) in Year 2 and a Division title and Super Bowl appearance in Year 3. Seems like they made the right move to me.

    Re: Dick Jauron

I guess I should have agreed to a point regarding the post I quoted. I don't think he got a completely raw deal. But I do think the Bears should have kept him.

Buffalo has been losing football games for a long time now and Jauron is turning that team around. We'll see if he can sustain it - I firmly believe he can. While the Bears did reach the playoffs under Lovie - he's also been a big player in the continued debacle at QB.

I sooooo wanted Wannstedt to be a great coach. He just LOOKED like a guy that should be coaching in Chicago with that mustache.

And Wade Phillips looks like he should be on the beach sipping a fruity drink and not pacing the sidelines of a football game. I guess looks can be deceiving. :)

I think Dave wakes up some days wanting to coach and does well and then other days - just wants to do something else and really doesn't work at it. A great coordinator - a mediocre head coach at best.
