Dow up 230 right now. I thought "no action" by the government would lead to total collapse?

Hey.........what's that in the sky? It's the sun! It came up today! Yippeee!

Here's a thought- we had too much money in circulation. And now a trillion or so is gone. Maybe that isn't such a bad thing.

    Re: Sept 30th Stock Thread

I don't what to think of this mess. After the disastrous week we had, I checked and had made almost 3%, and after the markets started coming back last week, I'd lost over 5%. If that trend continues, I need a major meltdown of our financial institutions, which I don't want to see at all. I'd rather take a hit and see the economy start to get healthy. The thing is, they didn't release enough of the particulars to know if voting it down was really wise or not. I know politicians generally do things in their own best interest, no matter what they say, but I'd like to think that's not the case with something so important to so many people.

I think I'll go to India and start up a ranch. I hear the cows are so numerous, they walk through the streets. It's like pennies from heaven!

Maybe none of this was real and just like the housing market it was artificially pumped up? House prices and stock prices coming down to what they should be is not all bad. Sure it hurts in the short term but it gives those of us who are not retiring for 30 years the chance to buy more shares now!

I have no problem with letting the market sort itself out if it means strengthening the dollar and getting rid of the "bad investors." I was not opposed to the bailout, but if we can see some balance without it, I would love that even more.

It seems like it was the perfect storm for Americans wanting to finally have their voice heard. With the upcoming election, the number of representatives in tight races, and the overwhelming constituent outpour supporting a no vote, many representative had no choice but to do what the American people advocated.

I agree. I feel bad for those near retirement who's 401k's went in the dumpster but they should have had their money in bonds, etc. at that age.
