On Jim and Jim - Kansas Radio Man Comment

KSU and ISU are out in the middle of nowhere and are hard to recruit to. ISU's facilities are a problem.

Somehow comments like that coming from a KU goober really irritates me.

What irritates me even more is . . Walden and Zabel roll over and never offer a counter point. But the Hawks are constantly being woven into the conversation something like this,

To Goober KU man, "Well as the Hawkeyes prepare for Michigan State, Kansas comes to Ames to play the Cyclones." Yada Yada Yada . . don't forget hour 2 we will be talking about the Hawkeyes . . Walden: the Big 12 and SEC are the best conferences this year and the other conferences are weak . . Zabel: Ohhh oooo I don't know about that (he was offended the Big 10 is considered a weak conference).

Now I know why I never listen to their boring show.

You mean the brand-new, $31 million Anderson Family Football Complex that's being built right next to Memorial Stadium right now?

It's already built and very nice. I wish ISU had something like it.

I figured they had finished it, but couldn't find an article to verify my intuition. Thanks.

Sorry if I'm unimpressed with Division I college football stadiums with tracks in them. And, for $31 million I was expecting a little more...

Walden should know what it is like to recurit to ISU. He says all the time it is hard to get players to come to Ames. It is his excuse why he didnt win in Ames. I guess it had nothing to do with his lack of player control and poor weight program. When Walden was at Ames he didnt have much to show prospects but things have got a lot better since then. I dont hear the current staff complaining about what they have to work with. Most of the time if a coach will let you know if he doesnt like the setup.

Re: On Jim and Jim - Kansas Radio Man Comment

The gameday atmosphere at Lawrence a few years back was a notch above the excitement level at a nursing home. IMO that was the worst Big12 venue I've ever watched a game at. (might be due to the crap that happened on the field too)

That may have changed a tad bit in two years but I was completely unimpressed with their stadium. The student section was worthless and the bowled end zone was about 50 yards from the field.

Do they even have an indoor practice facility? To call KU football facilities better than ISU's is a stretch. Their new $31m facility is little more than a 2008 version of the Jacobsen building.

I guess this is reason to prove them wrong.

I agree. That Anderson Family Football Complex is basically a new Jake. I would say ISU facilities are far better, and after our stadium and BB practice facility are completed, there will be no comparison.

Agreed. I've been to Texas, Mizzou, K-State, Neb., Iowa, and Kansas. Kansas was the worst by far. No atmosphere at all.

Amen. Walden and staff didn't like to "work" for recruits, and you're right, he loved excuses. He didn't press for more improvements because he didn't want the extra pressure to win. He loved the "poor me" mantra, and played it to the hilt.
