    UNLV fans and game

honestly UNLV played good and ended up on top and ill give them that except honestly i hated losing to them

i would go out on a limb and say that UNLV easily makes:
    -top 10 worst college band
    -top 10 worst college atmosphere
-top 10 worst college fan base
-top 10 stupidest chants, such as REBBELLLS

overall that place sucked really bad and i wont go back and honestly if i was UNLV i would be embarrased that a team over a 1000 miles away outnumbered them almost

while i COMPLETELY agree with you on all accounts I might add that the best chants, songs, etc. are the ones that completely annoy the living **** out of the opponent...see boomer sooner. mission accomplished. can't believe all the fights, but what do you expect when you serve jack daniels at the game.

    Re: UNLV fans and game

My daughter's Ankeny Marching Hawks would have blown the doors off that lame band. And that version of the national anthem was embarrassing to me as an American. Some songs shouldh't be messed with.

All that and the lame atmosphere, no tradition etc, made losing there even more painful to me.

    Re: UNLV fans and game

I thought it was kind of weird seeing people being dragged out of the stadium in cuffs and the band never played. They played the drum music out of the stadium speakers.
Also found it wierd that you could go up to the concession stand and order a hot pretzel, Bud light and a jack and Coke.

    Re: UNLV fans and game

The 2 things that I thought were wierd were that most of their fans didn't wear Rebel clothing and that they liked to talk a lot of trash to me when there was a fence seperating me from them after the game. It just seemed odd that they talked that much crap but I'm just chalking it up to that they haven't had a lot of success (us either) in football.

Yeah... I noticed that they either had the band mic'd up or were piping extra in.

If it was a band competition we would have totally kicked their ***... to bad it wasn't.

I bet all 15 members of the band would have been hard to hear across the stadium!! Seriously - our high school had about 350 kids in it, and our band was 2- or 3x as big.

    Re: UNLV fans and game

I couldn't believe all the people I saw cuffed up and taken out. One guy they were escorting out and some idiot was either talking trash to the guy or the cop and next thing you know he was cuffed up too!

The worst was in the parking lot, you'd thought UNLV were big rivals or a big time program and such with all the crap and cursing we got without even provoking it. There were some civil fans in our section but also a few idiots, one who left before the OT which was funny. But the parking lot afterwards was terrible. 1 car wouldn't even let it go as we had to drive several blocks side by side in traffic. Oh, and the topper of the night on the way in was some UNLV fan going "how about them Hawkeyes!? boy you guys got your butts kicked last week huh?" Didn't know a 17-5 win was a rout plus I'm guessing he didn't watch the game to know the Hawks didn't pull away until the 4th quarter.

Who cares??? If UNLV was such a terrible team, how did we lose to them??? The grapes are sour.

This was exactly my experience too. We got **** talked all the way out the stadium and on the bus ride back to the strip.

They had some (and mean just some because we probably brought nearly as many people as they did) crappy fans. They aren't used to winning anything so I guess the first time they win a few games, they decide to make their fan base look like idiots.
