What is up with our punt return?

Who is that guy. He usually either let's it bounce for an additional 20 yards or fair catches. There is absolutely no fear in punting to him. Can't we get Darius Darks, Houston Jones, J.J. Bass, or R.J. Sumrall back there and give the other team something to think about?

Maybe Todd Blythe has some eligibility left to return some punts.

Michael O'Connell... he needs to go. We need a new punt returner... a non-fair catching, speedy guy with no fear... Phillip Bates?

I would love if Bates returned punts. This O'connel guy may be a nice guy but his punt returning skill are not that good. He costs us major yardage every game.

Re: What is up with our punt return?

I agree that we need to get someone new. During the UNLV game he almost screwed us by getting us a saftey or giving the other team a touchdown. He will never catch it when there are people around but then when he does try to catch it, he has fumble numerous times! Get somebody speedy back there, im thinking carlson

Re: What is up with our punt return?

If we can avoid letting the ball slip through the "bread basket" and almost going into the end zone for a safety or an opponent touchdown, that would relieve some stressful moments.

I think using Bates is worth a shot. You always want your best athletes on the field as much as possible.

    Cue up the LJ Haters...
"Yeah, lets kick him off the team! We've played 4 games now and if he can't figure out how to fix these mistakes that keep costing us he needs to be out for at least a year thinking about what he's done!!"

Im just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard, Eustachy joked. If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, hell be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.

I think we're better off having Jerry O'Connell return punts

Re: What is up with our punt return?

Just the other week, everyone was aking who O'Connell was - because they loved him. Now...notsomuch.

I do agree though, we need to find someone that will actually catch the damn ball on punt return. The fact that we're muffing about as many in the last 2 years than we're actually returning is crazy.

Didn't RJ Sumrall return punts at one time? What about him?

What's the deal with Carlson? Are we redshirting him? Is he not as fast/good as advertised? We haven't seen him on the field at all this year... If we're not going to play him this year, we ought to throw a red shirt on him.. a guy with 4.2 speed is worth a shot at returning kicks/punts. But I still vote for Bates.

"I think it's a privilege to return punts for Iowa State and it's something you have to earn-- because a Cyclone does. He or she has the ability to create new and better realities and improve conditions."

Yeah well, ya know, that's just, like uh, your opinion, man.
