Anyone know of any gatherings in West Des Moines for the game tomorrow?

    I nominate your place.....

Order me a large cheese pizza, and make sure you pick up a quality keg of some sort.... Also, some chips, salads, and some apple pie would be GREAT

If you don't already, get an 56" HD TV.

    See you at kickoff tomorrow!

You know the "official" watch is Johnnys Hall of Fame down on Court?

And supposedly Trophy's out on Douglas and MLK (last year's official) is courting ISU fans.

I know both are DSM proper - but if you find a WDM location catering to ISU fans, I'm all ears.

I've heard Buffalo Wild Wings is a good place.

I know first hand that Champps out in Jordan Creek Mall blows chunks and would go so far to say they are anti-ISU. Same holds true for The Stadium on EP True and Firkin and Fox on 22nd. Some of the mods and others can attest to the later two.

I think we might have a decent group of people making out way from Beaverdale Fall Fest (probably walking) down to Jethro's. That place has some nice TVs and WAY better food than any of the others mentioned.

Re: Game watch in West Des Moines

How about picking one of the above WDM locations and seeing if we can get a enough feedback to show there are numbers to be catered to?

If enough respond here and we can get some rough idea, I would be happy to call the place chosen, (or go down the list) and ask them to holding some tables and screens.. Just a thought.

Personally, I would guarantee getting 2-3 bodies there as I have not decided where to watch it.

It could be a way to change a locations outlook and get together.

    Just floating an idea

I'm out of town this weekend - otherwise I'd love to meet up with you guys.

But some experience notes on the "bad-list"

Champps. A few years back, I called over to make sure they'd have the game on (no iowa game that night). They said they probably could get it on a smaller side screen. I asked why not the big screen and over the sound system. They responded that Indiana/Wisc was playing that night. After a few questions, the response was that a top-20 matchup pre-empts ISU. Personal gripe on my part - but I don't intend to ever go there again.

Firkin and Stadium - last season, about 10-15 of us went to both to catch various basketball games. We were far and away the largest group of people at the Stadium, but the played the iowa game over us. Firkin was just not a pleasant experience - no sound, not really set up well for game watches, and not exactly ISU-friendly. A few other here and probably back me up on these.

    JMO.

I have some friends who have been to Buffalo Wild Wings and now that I think of it, Legends West - and said they had good experiences there.

Post here if there is interest. If we get 10-15, I will call. We could try calling Stadium in advance to see if they will be accomodating, if not, tell them we will seek other business.

Champs is crap and I will never go there again. I have not been there since the 2003 Big 12 championship game. They only had that game on one small screen TV. They would not turn it on any other screens because the SEC championship started 1.5 hours AFTER the Big 12 game. On top of that the service was bad, the 'specials' were expensive and the food did not taste good either.

Just avoid chains. Why not support locally owned businesses. Heck, I would watch a game at the Front Row before I went to Champps again...

Gotta admit - they get points for their men's room. That's smack of the the highest order.

(I nearly wizzed in the sink, simply outta principle)

You could count me in if you find a location that would work. I would be interested in Jethros too, never been but have heard good things.
