The only part of the memory that was bitter was the way the whole UNLV football team and coaching staff acted after the game officially ended.

Re: Iowa State stirs up bitter memory for Rebels

And what Rebel fan asked me in another thread why I said Sandford felt attached???

"Obviously, there was no time for anything to be reviewed before he said, 'Game over,' and ran off the field," Sanford said. "That's what upset me."

Re: Iowa State stirs up bitter memory for Rebels

I was sitting on the lower west side, pretty much directly in line with the back of the endzone on that play. The WR was a few FEET out of bounds, there wasn't a need to review anything. At least 2 officials immediately ruled he was out.

The fact that they are still saying they thought they should have won because of that play tells me they don't recruit the best and brightest to Vegas.

I think UNLV's win last week was the best thing for ISU. Chiz can really get his team's attention, especially after suffering a bad loss in a rivalry game. If the guys are not fired up for this game, ISU may only win one or more games this season.

It wasn't that bad of a loss. Had Iowa hit their plays in the first half, it could have been bad, real bad, but they didn't. We made a game of it in the 3rd quarter and had our own problems. I'll take a 12 point loss in those conditions against Iowa when it could have been 20+ and a bit more demoralizing. Like I pointed out last night, I think 5 wins looks real solid with six being better than 50%.

Re: Iowa State stirs up bitter memory for Rebels

There also is a move to mix crews. The Mountain West and Western Athletic Conference have combined their officials this season, and the Big 12 joins that group next year.
Anybody else catch this in the article. Seems like it would make some sense. It seems to me that in college football and basketball, there is a tendency for teams and coaches to get a little too familiar with their conference officials.

Re: Iowa State stirs up bitter memory for Rebels

Anybody remember the huge body builder dude at JT on the west side, lower level when they where here last. The dudes HGH were out of control and there were 15 cops up by the B-rooms and con-stands waiting for this guy to do anything wrong. Last I remember he was in the lower level, visitor section giving the ISU fans grief. Not sure if he ever got hauled out but he was something else. The cops looked like toy soldiers compared to this guy.

The grass always looks greener, on the other side of the fence, but the dog over there might be meaner, on the other side of the fence… Stay in your own yard, play in your own yard!

"UNLV had a chance to snatch the victory, but quarterback Shane Steichen's last-second pass into the end zone was ruled incomplete when wide receiver Aaron Straiten was called out of bounds."

Ruled and Called? Whoever wrote this article is really bad at their job.

The UNLV QB said during an interview, "A lot of the young guys weren't here when we lost at Iowa."

They just showed it on channel 13.

“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”

"I hope to coach here until I retire," Hoiberg said.

"I've been waiting for this week for two years," UNLV defensive tackle Malo Taumua said. "Just losing how we did to Iowa State two years ago, it really makes you want to get back at them."

Is that the guy who was having the melt down at mid field, stomping on the ISU logo, after the game??? Just curious...

Yes that is they guy. I sure hope we double team that dude and stomp a mud hole in him.

UNLV is a bunch of babies. I sure hope Chiz has the boys ready.
