    Salad Bar in Ames?

My mother in law is visiting and she was thinking she wanted to go to a salad bar in Ames. Anyone know of any good ones?

I've always loved Valentino's salad bar.

    Re: Salad Bar in Ames?

Just got to Valentino's. The actual "salad bar" is a little thin, but there's plenty of stuff for everyone else too. Sunday's until 2 they have a Sunday brunch with lots of extra stuff too.

If you want to come down to DSM - Chicago Speakeasy supposedly has the best salad bar around.

Never been, but it's always reviewed well.

Go to Hickory Park. They don't have a salad bar, but it would be funny to see them ridicule you when you say you want salad instead of meat.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

They have a tasty salad bar.

If you want a great salad you should try Orlando's on the south side. Lots of cheese and creamy dressing.

    Love me some Orlandos.

If fact, a little 'za during the Steelers game tonight sounds just about right.

You can get their dressing at most Hy Vees now, too.

    Re: Salad Bar in Ames?

I went to the Ames Convention & Visitor's Bureau website and found the following. I haven't been to this place so I don't know if it's any good:

    Pizza Ranch

50 item salad bar, soup, broasted chicken, large variety of pizza, dessert pizza, mashed potatoes, gravy and veggies. Buffet everyday 11 a.m. 2 p.m. and 5 8 p.m.

    Re: Salad Bar in Ames?

Hy-Vee has a big salad bar and it's like $4.99 all you can eat too. Usually soup and nachos and tacos and stuff too on it if you want more than just salads.

It's... okay. About the same as any fast food pizza bar.
