You be the judge! Pictures of helmet-to-helmet hit.

What do you think? Led with his shoulder if you ask me.

To me, bad officiating call again - It was a game determiner in the end. Must have been Big 12 refs from Oklahoma.

Bottom line it was helmet-to-helmet. Do I think it was intentional? No. Do I think he was leading with his head? No, I think he was dropping his shoulder to make the tackle. But bottom line, it was helmet-to-helmet contact, and I wasn't surprised it was called.

It was helmet-to-helmet contact. It didn't look like it was spearing or intentional leading with the helmet, but even if it's inadvertent contact they probably make that call every time.

    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.

Defensive players should not be the only ones to be called for helmet to helmet contact. Looks like Iowa's guy has his head down pretty far.

In the third picture, it's not even clear there was helmet-to-helmet. A very close play to make on the field.

Re: You be the judge! Pictures of helmet-to-helmet hit.

I think that the Iowa player is the one leading with his helmet. Should not have been a call at all. Then with that play should have been a fumble ISU ball. I can honestly say that was a bull **** call and I feel the big 12 needs to take a look at their officals and tell them that is not to be called. only on a QB should that be called, but only when hitting them on their blind side.

Strongly disagree...it was a big hit where he led with the shoulder and Moeaki caused the "helmet-to-helmet" contact after he got hit with the shoulderpads and dropped his head. If he was standing straight up he would have just been blown up, and it shouldn't be on the defender after the initial contact is made to let up...most people would say it was a 14 point game and it didn't make the difference, but if the right call is made it's our ball at the 50 tied 3-3 with a chance to go down and score (not that we did a lot of that) and instead it was theirs at the 35 going in and led to the go-ahead touchdown. If we're up or even tied we probably are more conservative on our punt coverage too going the other way and possibly stop that return...call me an excuse-maker but that call totally killed us

Im just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard, Eustachy joked. If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, hell be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.

So what about later in the game when the UofI Safety tackled the ISU receiver and clearly made helmet contact first? It wasn't as "blatent", but if a rule is a rule...

Thank you. Now no more whining. The helmet to helmet contact is obvious in the third picture. Tough break, but correct call by the officials.

There is no such thing as an offensive player leading with his helmet.
It's the defensive player's responsibility to avoid the H2H contact.

It was a marginal call, but Moeaki's knee was down when the ball came out. So besides 15 yards, was it a huge play? Not IMO.

    Not flaming, just my opinion.

Helmet to helmet contact was made. After the shoulder.

Was Moeaki's knee actually down before the fumble? I guess I didn't look that closely, but I didn't think it was.

His knee wasnt down, not even close. The Hawk homers on TV even thought it was ISU's ball.

It may not be clear in the third picture, but that live sound shot during the game it was clearly the sound of helmets colliding.

Sorry, I can take a picture of that if you want. The ball is out just before his knee hits the ground.
