Re: Yankee's are a half game out

I don't mind the Red Sox but I almost would love to see a playoffs without the Yankees and Red Sox for a change. The East coast media would not like it although it's likely the Mets or Phillies will make the playoffs still.

And the Dodgers just swept the D'backs to take a 1 1/2 game lead in the NL West. That's in the league where they still play real baseball, (no DH).

Real baseball got there can's kicked in a 4-0 sweep in the world series last year. Maybe they should think of playing fake baseball.

Mets and Phillies don't count as East coast teams - at least not in the eyes of the media. They're always an afterthought compared to the Yankees and/or Red Sox.

Three game series with the Rays coming up. I smell first place for the Sox come Wednesday.

Good to see playing real baseball can get you a game and a half division lead with a 73-70 record. There's still hope that division winner will have a losing record and I for one would love it.

I think all cubs fans are rooting for the dodgers. The cubs don't want to see the dbacks in October.

Cubs vs Dodgers. Short pitching rotation (Billingsley, Penny, Kuroda, Kershaw, Lowe - take your pick). Dodgers return Furcal, Penny, Saito, and Kent in time for the playoffs. Zambrano appears to be hurting.

Be very careful what you wish for.

I'm not afraid. Big Z and Harden will be back this week and both appear to be fine now. Combine that with Dempster and Lilly, along with a hot offense if they get going again, and they are unstoppable.

I have no illusions - over the course of the season the Cubs are the better team versus the Dodgers this season. First, assuming the Dodgers can manage to keep it together for the next 20 or so games - they can be very dangerous in a series.

I've been a lifelone Dodger fan with the my second favorite team - by far - being the Cubs. I'm actually tortured by thinking about it. I don't want those teams to meet in the playoffs, but I can't root against either of them right now.

But my gut says a shortened rotation series and the Dodgers with its players back will go to the Dodgers. And I'll be both miserable and happy.
