    IOWA is not Kent St.

One thing to consider this week, and this is NOT a bust on Iowa, but, Shonn Greene cannot even compare to Eugene Jarvis. I'm not defending our defense because we all knew with the losses along our DL that this could happen - it is....our DL is giving up way too many running lanes and good running teams will exploit that.

But, Eugene Jarvis is an NFL caliber RB he's already on the watch list for next years draft. He's the highest returning rusher in the nation (had almost 1700 yds last year) and with that type of quantity your gonna give up yards against a quality back.

The thing that jumped out at me was the third down conversions and some that were long 15-19 yards. Your defense needs to be able to stop those.....

I know everyone will be looking at giving up 139 yards to Jarvis is too much, but, this was a veteran line with a stud rb, give our D a chance. Hopefully, we've been vanilla on defense holding something back for our super bowl!!!!

I see what you're saying, but as a team, Iowa will be much better than Kent State. Kent State didn't have a Mitch King or a stacked defensive line and we still had trouble running against them.

We don't need to run. Having a QB capable of making plays with his feet is good enough to win our next 2 games. Our pass game hasn't looked as good as last night for over 5 years. The timing was spot on and it was great to see Arnaud just drop back, and throw (a couple times blindly) to a spot, and know his recievers would be there.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

The thing that worries me is that Kent State couldn't even score on Boston College which got beat by GT. Just saying we have a a Defensive Line problem and turnovers are bailing us out currently. We should improve though.

You mean, we won't face to backs like that again. Those guys will give fits to everyone.

We will match up better with Iowa. But Iowa is a better team than Kent State.

We have had turn overs at "key times" to keep points off of the boards for both of the teams that we have just played

Had trouble? If you take out QB scrambles tailbacks gained only 55 yards on 27 rushes for a 2.04 average.

I think we have a line problem in general and both TO's and special teams are bailing us out. It's great to force turnovers and it's great to get great play on special teams but I don't think it's something you can count on.

Re: IOWA is not Kent St.

Let's not forget that Robinson did not even see the field last night, and Bass saw limited action, in which he ran pretty well, imo. While, I like Scales, everyone on the other side knows that when he gets the ball, it's going right up the middle. Did you see Kent St. just piling guys in there? If we have all 4 of our running backs playing next week, it's going to keep Iowa honest, because all of them do different things well. I think our pass protection will be pretty good, and right now our biggest weakness is on the d-line. Also, I don't like saying that turnovers and special teams "bail us out". These are two areas where we have been very bad for several years, and we're finally good at them. Not lucky. Good. Hopefully our lines catch up...

Re: IOWA is not Kent St.

I agree, Iowa is no Kent St., they're better than Kent St. Shonn Greene is a god damn bruiser, if we "tackle" like we did against Kent St. it could be tough to stop him. Hopefully him being less elusive that Jarvis will mean we can wrap him up easier.

Both of our lines seemed sorely under prepared and out played against Kent St. Tell me again how we can't gain 1 yard on 2 plays against Kent St.? Our lines got no push on either side of the ball.

Our special teams carried the team this week, but that's not exactly something you can hope for ever game.

Kent. State's backfield would start at Iowa, so it's agreed we'll see a drop of there.
I would expect that Iowa's D line and LB's will be the Clones biggest match.

I was just reiterating your point - I would say it was worse than just having trouble. I would say it was completely ineffective against a bad MAC team.

Yeah, Iowa is not Kent State---- they're so good, maybe we shouldn't even show up next Saturday. (Insert sarcasm as needed).

Nor can Stanzi/Christianson compare to Edelman. I don't know that I've ever seen a more elusive and dangerous quarterback play in Jack Trice Stadium (whose last name isn't Wallace, that is). It will be tough to sack Iowa's quarterback with the traditional 4-man rush, but I'm predicting that you're going to see some sacks from our various blitz packages.
