Question 9/11 Memorials - What Employers Still Do Them?

We just got a message about a company-wide memorial service on 9/11 to remember our company's employees that died in the attacks. We have the service/ceremony every year - but I was wondering if other companies that members work at still do these or if we're just different since we lost 295 employees in the attacks?

I think they're important to do, at least for the companies directly affected, just curious if others still have them as well.

FYI - Here is our company's memorial website... LINK

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Americans have forgot about 9/11. Our company does not do anything. We celebrate the Pride Parade though.

Please tell me that isnt what I think it is.

I dont believe Americans have forgotten about 9/11 at all. For those of us that werent directly effected, its hard to attach to it as strongly as the ones who were. Its like that with any tragedy.

My post was to say we don't celebrate or morn for 9/11 people because we are to busy celebrating Pride, Latino fest, and everyother stupid day our company has. However we don't celebrate December 7th or 9/11.

Our company will have a get-together Sept 11th to commemorate. As military contractors every single one of us have a direct connection to that day, or the consequences following.

I am pretty sure we had a moment of silence last year. But I don't believe my company was directly affected by it so that may be why it a small sort thing.

Our company is small and local, so of course we don't, but I know it is on the mind of most on that day.

Re: 9/11 Memorials - What Employers Still Do Them?

As other have said if it didn't directly affect you or someone you loved you have a hard time attaching to it like others. 9/11 I try and stop and think back - I was in Soc134 when I found out about it, but that's really about all I think about.

P.S. I had no idea about Dec 7th either - wasn't alive so I don't attach myself to it.

    Always good to know though.
