Josh Lenz has a HUGE Night!

    TH - Local Sports Article

Donít know if anyone has posted this yet, but Josh Lenz had a great night last night in Dubuque Hempsteadís season opener against Iowa City West.

Lenz had 3 rushing TD's (37yd, 54 yd and 53 yd) while rushing 14 times for 212 yards. Lenz also helped to seal the 31-17 win for Dubuque Hempstead with an 86-yard punt return in the forth quarter!

Boy, before I was excited about this kid because our coaches offered him this early -- I figure he must be good. Now I'm excited about him, too, because of his demonstrated electrifying play.

Sounds like an absolutely great kid, on and off the field. What a terrific addition to our Cyclone family. (I'm certain I'm not alone in this, but I love to see a kid walk well in the greater world as much as see him run well on the field.)

Eric Thigpen called him a phenomenal player.
Thigpen (former Hawk DB) is part of the hawkeye call in show after the games and coached against Lenz Friday night.

It's impressive but don't get too surprised. West is probably going to be awful again this year. The only team we beat last year was Linn-Mar.

Really? Wow, things have changed since I was in school. West was dominant for a while there. They are still are full of athletes though right?

Anyways, those 3 big runs tells me he has a different gear of speed than anyone else on the field. Me likey!!

Yea, I played for Dubuque Senior from 1996 - 2000 and I also remember Iowa City West was pretty good back in the day.

Just remember that Jason Scales used to have an extra gear from anyone else on the field--at a similar level of competition. Let's all wait until we see him in a Cyclone uniform (or at least running a 10.6 100m ) to get too excited.

A thought I was reminded of last night by another poster (you want cred here, ISUFan22?).
