    Marquis Hamilton

Any reason he didn't see much action last night?

I can think of two reasons:

    - Darius Darks
    - Sedrick Johnson

I thought Hamilton looked even bigger last night... Maybe he bulked up too much in the offseason and it hurt his speed and is now having trouble getting open now... He almost looks like a tight end now.

Hopefully it's not the "David Boston Effect"

Im just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard, Eustachy joked. If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, hell be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.

    Re: Marquis Hamilton

Marquis has just kind of been in a slump from what I know, Talking to some of the receivers, they say that they think he is one of the best recievers, but he just hasnt been involved in much and they werent sure why, it puzzles me as well, but we have some good talent at WR, aslong as Sed can ease up and make some catches, he dropped 3 last night and had one phenominal catch, he can be very special for us, it will take time. I think Marquis will get worked in a little more when we open up the playbook. Last night was a good opportunity to break in freshman, and i think that is what the staff was trying to do by the routes they had the freshmen on ect.

    That's what I assumed, but wasn't sure.

I think Sed Johnson will learn a lot from this experience, he was hesitant on some of his catches, I think that will change in time. Also i believe he will be shown the RJ sumrall catching method when its way over head, He jumped and had one hand up, it wasnt the greatest pass, but had he put up two hands i think he would have been able to pluck it down.

Sedrick looked good - the passes thrown to him didn't. Even the touchdown was more a great catch than a good throw.

Had he continued the route and looked over the other shoulder it might have been six... He cut it short and thought it was underthrown...

I don't think that was the case on the touchdown at all. Bates put that where only Sed was going to get it and he came down with a great catch despite being mugged. I think the throw looked slightly bad because there was a defender all over Sed...in an illegal way.

I think this was more the case than getting two hands up. I agree with 33 that if he put both hands up he would of had a better chance, but breaking off the route is what really cost him.

Where I've understood to throw the ball in those type of situations is to the back corner of the endzone. That ball was far short from the point. Personal perception and probably point of view of the play as well, so my opinion isn't the final word by any means.

I agree. A part of me was thinking though that if he did try and swing the other way to where the poorly thrown ball was, he would get called for PI due to trying to switch directions with a DB right on his tail and in more position that Sed was to make the catch. Again, just point of view from the field.

Houston Jones saw a ton of playing time, actually the starting spot. It looked like he got the wind knocked out of him when he went down after the catch. But he was out there a couple plays later. The future looks very bright for this team, I just hope they can put it together sooner than later.

Where was Jason Carlson? Did he just get beat out? I thought for sure he'd be a returner.

33 - most of the time I agree with you brother, but dropped 3? I think he was thrown to maybe 4 times. Dropped would equal in both hands or hitting him in both hands or hitting him in the chest, then didn't make the catch. By that definition I don't think he dropped any by my recollection. 2 were bad passes that he made a great effort just to get finger tips on. 1 - the deep ball - he got turned around and never touched it (i think) but not a drop. 1 - touchdown. where were the 3 drops?

I saw at least two drops. One was an out pass around the 15 yard line and Sed had alligator arms. The ball was perfectly thrown and should have been caught. The other was the ball that was overthrown by Bates, but Sed still should have caught it. It looked to me that his timing was off on his jump.
