    jason carlson

i have full faith in the coaches and i know that jason carlson won't play if he is not good enough. But i am also confused that we cant use his speed somewhere. Does anyone here have any insight into why he isn't playing. Is it lack of ability to run a good route, not agile, not good at catching?

He has 3 years to play. I wouldn't write him off after being in the program for 4 weeks. It would be more surprising if a Juco was ready to compete right out of the chute. Chizik usually expects them to take at least half a season to understand what they are doing on the field.

    Re: jason carlson

Seems odd that true freshmen can come in a play right away but a Juco takes half a year to make a contribution? Am I missing something?

Pretty straightforward...and not sarcasm. One thing you should remember about any juco is, if they came from just about any junior college in the country, the odds are that juco doesn't have a weight room. That's why it takes a year to adapt--and Chizik prefers to sign sophs. Sure, some may be able to work out at the local fitness center, but jucos are the low end of the fiscal spectrum.

Especially lower than Texas high schools.

    Re: jason carlson

I doubt there is any juco with a football team that does not have a weight room. It may not hve all the latest equipment but I think they would have one. The Boone DMACC campus even has had weights for their baseball and basketball teams for years.
