    Leaving early

    you are upsetting jesse smith

“I noticed they were leaving,” linebacker Jesse Smith said with a grin. “I wasn’t happy to see them leave, but at least we were up.”

    Re: Leaving early

I heard that. I stayed to the very end. I think the Thurs. night late game and the score caused some to leave early that had drives & work ahead of them the next day.

    Re: Leaving early

I hate to see it but I'm guessing most of those people had to work today and probably had kids to get to bed or get back too. That's life...not that I would expect a college kid to understand that.

    Re: Leaving early

We stayed to the very end just because we have blown anybody out in a couple years. I haven't walked out of Jack Trice Calmly forever. I was disappointed, but it was Thursday night and most people work today.

    Re: Leaving early

Yeah with it being Thursday I can see people wanting to get outta there and get home! And with it not being a close game we should be happy we could leave early, and not mad about us being down! That tables have turned I hope...

    Re: Leaving early

No one should be leaving early like that, but understandably, it was a night game, and it was a Thursday night game at that. Trust me, if we're up 37-3 towards the end of a game against a Big XII opponent, no one will be leaving. Tell the team to keep it up, they did a great job last night.

    Re: Leaving early

I'm sure a lot had to do with Thursday and it being a bit of a blow out. I guess the thing that frustrated me though was that we didn't really sit on it until our last possession. Up to that point we were still trying to move the ball. I don't know, I couldn't make the game, so I can't complain, but it would have been nice to send the boys off the field with a big cheering crowd. That's the type of game we haven't seen for a While in Jack Trice. I wish I could have been there. I've only ever left 2 games early in my life at JTS. One being because we thought my wife was having a miscarriage and the other was the Texas game last year. I just could not bear to watch it anymore.

    Re: Leaving early

I had an offer of two free tickets but I turned them down because I wouldn't have gotten home until after 1am. Thurs night games are stupid.

Sadly, you are wrong. Folks will still leave....just not as many as last night due to the Thursday night circumstances.

    Re: Leaving early

I don't blame people last night. Work today, combined with the terrible construction - I wish I would have left early it took FOREVER to get out of Ames.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

    Re: Leaving early

The usual, "I wanna beat the traffic" argument could have actually been valid last night. We were parked on Hazel (don't ask why 4 adults/1 baby needed to bring 3 cars...) and that S. 4th detour was crazy busy! I didn't get out of town until 10:45-11. My wife, mom, and son definitely beat the traffic (a tired 9 mo. old made it through the 1st Q, but he was done and the three of them left...)

    Re: Leaving early

I really wanted to stay until the end to applaud the players for a job well done *but* my wife had other ideas. Apparently she promised her mother, who was babysitting, that we would leave early if we had a big lead. I did manage to convince her that 34-3 wasn't a big lead. Not for ISU. I even got by the 37-9. But at 44-9 I couldn't hold her back anymore.
