Re: Marty & Miller claim for new coach:

Ok, so I just listened to this train wreck of a show on my way home and I've come to the same conclusion I always do when I tune in. Marty sucks at life. Period.

He is screaming about how Harbaugh wouldn't cut it at ISU and that could be the worst thing for JP to do is to hire him...that ISU needs someone who can come in a perform "open heart surgery" not some guy who played in the League. Weird, because after Mac resigned he said that was ISU's biggest mistake, but now he says the program is so bad it needs open heart surgery. He makes no sense! He thinks Norvell is the best thing since sliced bread and has the best resume out there. He is postive he'll get hired b/c some dentist told him so.

I agree with Dave, I find it highly unlikely that the new hire's name just slips from someone's lips during Mac's party after his last game.

Ya know, it's times like this that I feel so blessed to live in Davenport, because I couldn't listen to Marty if I tried. I know this is suckeye country, but at least I don't have to listen to deliberate crap...

Re: Marty & Miller claim for new coach:

I turned off the radio when Marty said "Oh give me a break...the fans have absolutely no weight in choosing the coach". So donors don't have a say? So if JP gets hundreds of emails against Norvell he will still hire him. Fans buy the tickets to watch the games, did you know that Marty? Tell me how good of a hire it was when 20,000 season tickets are sold instead of 30,000.

JP needs to sell tickets for next year...he has even said it himself. He is going to hire someone that will pump up the fan base and Norvell just doesn't do it. That's a fact.

Reguardless of what Marty is claiming, it has opened my eyes to Norvell, and I think this guy would be a good fit. Does anyone disagree that Norvell would be a bad hire?

More fodder to fool the fans? Do not mess with the Fans. Kelly is a nogo, Norvell is okay, Brewster is interesting, Loney is gone, Kragthorpe is history, but Harbaugh would be swell. Do you think two or three people have turned down JP informally already? Has Harbaugh booked a flight to Des Moines or are we talking limo from Lincoln?

Harbaugh could end up being a very good couch, but like Deace said, hiring him is a loose loose. If he fails, he will be fired, and if he succeds, he will be Loyd Carr's predessesor in a few years.

Pollard is making the biggest decision he prob has ever made. He fored one of the best things to happen to ISU. Pollard needs to find a man who will do better then McCarney, because if we hire someone who does not end up being more successful then McCarney, there is going to be alot of disappointed people, and ISU will take a huge hit for many years to come. I personally think that Harbaugh is too much of a "risk," and Pollard will not go down that road!

Guys, I wouldn't put too much weight into this just yet. I'm not saying it's false, yet I contacted a source tonight and he said...

"It's still Harbaugh as #1 from what I know right now".

I heard this weekend from a friend who works in the Jacobson Building that Pollard and Harris are keeping everything to themselves, and no one in the building really knows what is up, but they all speculate that Harbaugh is the guy, but it is no more then speculation, and they are all as confused as we are.

I'm liking the sounds of Norvell...although Marty and Miller are a little far out at times, I think they are drumming up some great interest in Norvell as our next head coach. I don't feel good about Harbaugh on the flip side, just not much more there than his name. BTW...what happened to Marty and Miller's breaking news candidate, Tim Brewster? (My sources inside the Broncos org. say no chance of him as our head coach either). Dan was the man and classy at that! May our next head man be as classy and as well rounded as he was for the last 12 years! Norvell is my man, and a McCarney disciple!

Exactly my thoughts. I had not even looked at Norvell until today, but I really like him! I still would rather have Patterson or Pilinni over Norvell, but I dont think we are going to get either of them!
