    Culbertson

Is anyone else as tired of him missing game impacting/game winning kicks?

I gave him a pass for the Missouri game 2 years ago because he was a freshman. I was a little leary after the KU game last year. But to miss a chip shot AGAIN at home against Missouri is a pattern. The guy can kick but he just isn't a clutch kicker.

If he makes that 28 yard straight down the middle FG on Saturday, we go up 8 points which would have been huge. I know we ended up winning but it's the principle of the matter...

1st Priority of New coach. Find Kicker. Shaggy is a senior right? Get a good kicker in and red shirt or even play him right away.

He is a walk on kicker. IMO, a field goal kicker is one of the biggest assets you can have on a team other then a QB. Why McCarney refused to ever recruit kickers is something I will never figure out!

We have not had a good kicker since Ty Stuart. Well the Punter who kick his senior year too...Carl Gomez?

    Re: Culbertson

No ability to make the pressure kick so far, none.

Very discouraging for a kid that pretty accurate otherwise.

Maybe if he did, he would still have his job. And we would have at least 1 North title and possibly 2.

Season is over and so are my worries. Whoever they bring in will sweep up the cobwebs and clean under the rugs. I trust in them. I will start to care more when football season sneaks back in again.

This is what I don't understand...he is a good everyday kicker but just cracks under the pressure of a big kick.

    Re: Culbertson

This was exactly the type of kick he needed to make to get his head straight for 2007. Not good at all!

And we beat Alabama...or was that good? Oh, wait we only get the close calls on our coaches last day.

Didn't he also miss one in OT against Mizzou last year!

    That was Tony Yelk's kick.

    Re: Culbertson

We have 2 scholarship place kickers in Josh Griebahn and Chris Mahoski. I thought Mahoski was rated highly coming from Bettendorf 2 years ago. Seem to remember that he had a fairly serious leg injury playing soccer or something. Don't think I saw him play at all this tear.

    Re: Culbertson

I think it was painfully clear this weekend that Shaggy is not a clutch kicker when the kick matters. If it's a non-pressure kick in the game he's usually money but if the game is on the line and making the kick would help ISU's chances he has yet to hit a meaningful kick in 3 years now.
