If we score more points than they do, we'll have a terrific shot. But knowing our history, even scoring more points might not be enough.

I think running the ball is the big key. With our o-line Robinson and Scales should have 100 yards each! Not letting SDSU have any big plays is another key, that is how we got killed last year.

    The question is:

Can Lucca play this year, or did the NCAA DQ him, again?

    John Madden:
"If, uh, if uh, the quaterback throws the ball, and uh, and uh, the reciever catches it in the, in the, in the endzone, then that's gonna be, that, that, that's gonna be, that right there, that's gonna be, that, that, that right there, that, that's gonna be a touchdown."

I am confident that our defense will keep them in check. Redzone is where it needs to change. I think our running game will help, but finishing is the hurdle we need to get over.

Re: Offensive Keys For South Dakota State Game

I know traditionally in this kind of game, we would try to contol the line of scrimmage and rush the ball down SDSU's throat. However, this game is, in many ways, a continued QB competition. I think these guys have to be given more of an opportunity to throw the ball and spread the offense - otherwise we'll get to game 3 and not be any closer to picking one guy as "the man". I think the key is going to have to be one or both of the guys commanding the total offense without turnovers.

Agreed, first one to score a touchdown without any turnovers is going to get my complete adoration.

Re: Offensive Keys For South Dakota State Game

I would like to see all four of our scholarship rb's get 60-100 yards rushing and have the game overwith so that the walk on rb from Ames who played well in the spring game gets in an gets 5-10 carries.

I hope that the passing game looks tons better than last year, with both guys looking sharp. This is essentially a new secondary, that their coach says is not coming along as fast as needed. I think this bodes well for getting the first game gitters out and looking like a big 12 team.

I don't think all four running backs are going to get that much time. Only A-Rob, Scales, and maybe Schwarz will get a lot of time. I think if we control the game A-Rob most of the first half and then Scales most of the second half.

I thought Schwartz was going to redshirt this year. We already have Scales, Bass, Harris (all seniors) and ARob to carry the load.

The only offensive key that matters in this game is turnovers. If the offense has zero or one turnover for the game it is nighty night for the rabbits.

Based on his size, he could very well be the best option for short yardage and goal line situations. If he can help deliver even one close win this season, I don't want to hear anyone complaining about "wasting a redshirt". Any win is more valuable than a redshirt year.
