    Brewster

Am I the only guy still rooting for Brewster? Granted, he's never been a head coach, but what we know for a fact is that he is a freakin monster at recruiting, especially in Texas. I can't recall what he specifically said in a quote, but it was something along the lines of "when I get in a prospect's living room, I don't miss."

That line overwhelmed me with goosebumps, no joke. Not only did it tell me that he's an amazing recruiter, but also a self-confident sob. Over the past few days I've also read the words "college football is 80% recruiting, 20% coaching". I'm not sure about that ratio, but we've all learned that a team can only go so far to develop diamonds in the rough or lower-tier players.

Brewster was a tight ends coach at Texas, not a head coach. BUT it's not as if he wasn't there every day to witness an amazing staff that consists of Mack Brown and Gene Chizik. He's currently working with Mike Shanahan, also an amazing coach. Certainly he's picked up a thing or two.

He almost assuredly has some great connections to other position coaches from his past job at Texas and his current job in the NFL. He could surround himself with other bright minds.

In closing: He's a proven recruiter. He's confident. He has a great pedigree and has learned from some of the best football minds. He has connections to help him coach. Am I missing something?

    Re: Brewster

It seems there was an early love affair with Brewster - from the reports we received.

Then, one or both sides cooled very quickly.

I'm not sure if it's because Harbaugh put his hat in the ring or what - we may never know.

I like the prospect of Brewster, just doesn't seem he's an option any longer.

It sounds like Harbaugh is the guy, right? It's just a matter of coming to an agreement/terms?

    Re: Brewster

I would be happy with Brewster, I was reading about him on the Internet, and thought. ''Wow, this guy just needs a chance,'' then I was read about Harbaugh, and like those 2 guys the most. This has been fun watching, reading on all of the picks...Just hope Jamie gets the right person and I think he will....HITMAN

You may be right, and maybe this whole thread is a moot point. Just thought I'd make a case for Brewster after reading the threads about risks in a new coach. Brewster seems to be less of one than Captain Comeback, but I'm guessing that, like ISUFan22 said, one or both sides cooled. Too bad.

Should read anyone recruiting for the UT in the state of Texas can not miss. Not a hard job in my opinion.

But he also recruited Mack Brown's 11 win team at North Carolina.

I too am excited about Brewster. He was my pick at the beginning because he can recruit, a skill that is sorely needed here. Plus two of his sons are highly regarded recruits doesn't hurt either.

The guy can obviouly coach, Shannahan doesn't hire dogs. I don't know why he fell off the map.

He gets my vote as well, too bad it looks like he is a long shot. Whoever decides to take the risk and hire him, will do very well I think.

    Re: Brewster

One thought to consider as this process continues is that Denver plays at KC on Thursday night which makes a convenient location for JP to conduct an interview.

I think that Brewster may still be in play and I really like the staff that he could surround himself with.
