    NCAA or NFL

Marty and Miller are arguing about whether NCAA football or NFL football is bigger in Iowa.

Personally, I rarely watch NFL, and don't really have a favorite team. Other than watching former Cyclones and Hawks, I don't really have any interest in it.

So how about it? NCAA or NFL?

    Re: NCAA or NFL

NCAA in my opinion. People in Iowa are loyal to the Vikings, Packers, Bears, and Chiefs but not like they are to ISU, Iowa, Nebraska, and even UNI.

You just see more people involved in the college debate than you do the pros. Granted my thoughts are purely anecdotal but it just seems to make sense considering we don't have a pro team within 3 hours of Des Moines.

Oh, and I listen to Marty and Miller for enjoyment and am ok with Marty sensationalizing everything. However, I will never call in simply because he never gives his callers a chance to finish their thoughts. He just doesn't have an off switch and doesn't understand the point of a call-in segment. Let them call, articulate their point completely, then debate. Gah.

    Re: NCAA or NFL

I usually only watch the NCAA. But that is mostly because I am busy doing other things on Sunday afternoons when the NFL is on. I sometimes have the game on while I am at my computer or something but I don't make it a point to watch it every week like I do Iowa State.

    Re: NCAA or NFL

I love the Bears, but nothing like I do the Clones and Gators. I won't watch an NFL game if it isn't the Bears, no interest at all and ESPN REALLY annoys me having NFL shows on year round to talk about nothing...

I chose "both." I'll watch virtually any NFL game. I can't say the same about the college game, but I will definitely watch if ISU has a vested interest in the game (i.e. Big 12 conference game) or if it's a big Top 25 match-up.

This is kinda/sorta where I would fall too. The whole atmosphere surrounding a big CFB game is fantastic when you're there in person. Watching random games on TV, I much prefer the NFL.

NCAA, 99 times out of 100. It is so much more visceral and actually means something.

    Re: NCAA or NFL

I will watch any NCAA game before I will watch a NFL game. That includes an FCS game, or a game between two non-BCS schools.

The NFL is slowly turning into the NBA, and neither league really interests me all that much these days. I just can't get excited watching meaningless games. The Superbowl is entirely made of hype, and is, IMO, just a fairly boring non-conference game at this point with a bunch of clever commercials packaged around it.

If it wasn't for Fantasy Football, I honestly think the NFL would be going downhill.

Both, with a slight edge to NCAA. I love me some NFL, but college ball comes out a little ahead.

I'm not sure an individual game means that much more in the NCAA than a game in the NFL. A 16 game season versus a 12 game season. Roughly half (??) the NCAA teams make the "post-season" and a little more than 1/3 of the NFL teams make the post-season.

If you were arguing it means more to the fans, that may be the case.

I agree - football is taylor made for Fantasy sports with weekly games and easy stats. Even my friends not on this board could really care less about NFL teams outside of fantasy.

Granted that this is a message board for a college sports team, so this is turning out about how I expected . A bit more lopsided than I thought, to be honest though.

    Re: NCAA or NFL

Plus the players arent paid, well, technically they arent paid. It just seems like players become ******** when they make it to the league.

The game play is so similar amongst the NFL teams. Its mainly all smash mouth football, but i like to see flashy plays on offense. I hate the Patrtiots, but i like how they threw the ball 75% of the time.
