    Re: Easiest Schedules for 2008

Our non conference schedule is pretty bad. Easier than Iowa's, but we play much tougher competition in conference play.

Well that settles it, we will be playing in the Cotton Bowl this year and the Hawks will be playing for Roses.

I would put our schedule at #1 because we play Iowa in Iowa City.

I believe Broodwich was saying that playing Iowa in Iowa City would make our schedule easier than Iowa's. Meaning, Iowa is a poor team.

    Re: Easiest Schedules for 2008

I don't understand how they could put us in the top 10. It is still the Big 12, the toughest conference in the nation, plus we have two non-conference road games (granted neither that good, but still more then most BCS schools).

    Re: Easiest Schedules for 2008

The Hawkeyes should be able to start the season with three consecutive victories. They open the season with home games against Division I-AA Maine, Florida International and rival Iowa State.
really? Is this game that much of a lock? I mean, even for a non-iowa state or iowa fan, does this game look locked up?

It is always a lock for Iowa every year. Just listen to their fans and the media.

Besides, it's not like the Hawks ever actually lose. They have wins taken away from them, by the refs, the wind, the time of day, the color of uniforms, and of course, the number of touchdowns (or lack thereof ) that the other team scores.

I'd say it's typically a lock for the home team.

    Re: Easiest Schedules for 2008

Iowa State's toughest road games are at Iowa on Sept. 13, at Oklahoma State on Nov. 1, at Colorado on Nov. 8 and at Kansas State on Nov. 22.
and here, he lists 4 of our 6 road games. woo. what a great writer. took a lot of time writing this column.

    Re: Easiest Schedules for 2008

i don't mind the easy schedule stuff, because every year teams have that moniker, but it's all on paper.

Even with Texas Tech playing in the big xii south, can they at least get some hate for having TWO 1-AA football games this season? AND, one of their other non-conf games was 1-11 last year. Come on...

I've always loved betting on the ISU/Iowa game. Iowa fans are so delusional they run up the line on the game. I want to say ISU has covered 13 of the past 15 games.

    I hope I didn't just jinx it.

Really? I thought the media thought it was a lock last year... and in 2005... and in 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998...

When has it ever been a lock of ISU? Every game we have played since '98 it has been a lock of Iowa, even though we've won 7 of those games and Iowa has only beaten us at home once during that time.
